'66 GTA - Legendary 17" Magnum 500's - What front tire size

Good afternoon!

I've gotta order some tires for my '66 Fairlane GTA, I got some 17" Magnum 500's on Holley for a good price, they're 8" with 4.5" Backspacing.

I'm thinking a 235/35/R17 for the front, and a 275/45/R17 for the back, anyone have any input on what they've had luck with?

Ontario Master license

Hi!

So I finally got my masters, test wasn’t horrible but whatever.

I know it takes up to 30 business days to process, can anyone answer me on how long it takes for the contractors license? Is it also 30 days?

I’m kinda scratching my head here on why it takes so long to process documents that ESA sends me, 30 days seems absolutely mental!

‘66 Fairlane GTA IN PRIME!

I hate body work, it’s been a tedious month patching pin holes, finding deep bondo pockets and massaging the metal back to a useable state but here it is.. this is epoxy prime, looks pretty straight so far, now I can sand for the rest of the week! Should be in paint at the end of the month.

Also my ‘70 Shelby clone won best Ford at a car show last weekend.. blew a tire on the way in and still won with 3 out of 4 wheels!

Breathing fast while resting

This is my two year old, Frankie. She’s a very sweet girl. Maybe it’s just me being paranoid but she’s been breathing fast while resting, last night she was in bed and it was about 40 breaths per minute. Her gums are salmon pink, otherwise I’d have brought her to emergency.

She seems like herself, has no issues walking or running, doesn’t seem to be in pain. Is this normal?

‘66 Fairlane GTA

Engine is back in!

I just cleaned it up, added the AC compressor brackets and re-installed it. I have a new set of valve covers waiting for me to pick up, the engine bay was stripped to bare steel, a small patch on the firewall, and we’re good to go.

Have to paint some of the base/clear for a section of the firewall, but that can be done anytime.

Had a hell of a time getting the engine back in, such a bugger.

‘66 Fairlane GTA progress

Hello! Bought this about a month ago, turns out it’s a California car with AC, 390FE, factory front disks (rare for ‘66) and the owner before the most recent had it for twenty years, then he won a ‘67 Fairlane in a draw at a car show and sold this one. Went to Carlisle last weekend and picked up some hard to find parts, but it’s coming along well!

Cleaned the engine up a bit, I removed the valve cover and someone has already redone it, so since it ran well I’m just going to throw a Holley 670 on it, and leave it. Leaving the manifolds as… headers look impossible. My engine stand is fighting gravity until I can get it back into the car.

230A 480V rectifier - transformer question

Good day fellow electricians!

I have a client that has two 230A 480V DC rectifiers in a paint line, because we had 600V I installed a 300KVA 600-480V isolation transformer. With the fusing at 400A I calculated a 480A max and the wire was sized for that.

The rectifier is fed with a 400A disconnect with 250A fuses, to a 400A transfer switch. I split off to the two rectifiers with 350MCM copper.

The rectifier has been tripping on overcurrent with the tank full of parts, at 265V DC. I checked my current prior at it was relative for the on the display at 400A, my reading was around 220A

The rectifier company came out and said the transformer is wrong, the impedance is too high, and it doesn’t have the switching capability for the rectifiers. So they’ve requested I install a 350KVA auto.. I found a 500KVA at one of their shops that was disconnected, and plan to install that.

Are they just making me do extra work for nothing or is this actually going to work?
I’ve consulted with six other electricians and they all said the rectifier company is nuts.

Delta shower head - need more pressure

Hey!

I’m an electrician, and never have been good at plumbing, I stay in my lane.

I have one of these and the pressure is… mild at best. I had a different one like it that I fucked up by removing the blue restrictor inside, and it leaked like hell.

Any tips to get more pressure out of it?

Quoting an armored OM3 6 strand job - Questions

Good afternoon!

I am quoting about 450M of an OM3 armored cable run, it's my first 'Big' fiber job.

Do you just use a teck connector for the cable? That would cover the bonding of the jacket

I had quoted OM3 6 strand in 1 1/2" EMT and 2" EMT, but the client didn't like my price, which is the usual way I've run these.

Spay on Friday.. any tips?

My Almost two year old Aussie/border collie is getting spayed on Friday, she’s not the most active dog which is good, but she has her moments of crazy.

I bought a couple spay suits because she likes her crate and hiding under the bed, but as far as keeping her happy and calm for a few days im not sure what to do.

Thanks!

‘66 390FE - numbers matching, few questions

Good afternoon!

Looking for some insight, just bought a ‘66 Fairlane, and have to pull the engine for some engine bay clean-up. It has a popped frost plug, so I’d like to pull the heads and make sure it holds water, the previous owner had the motor rebuilt allegedly, but you never know. I can’t ask him as he passed away as to what was done.

My question is, I know they’re expensive.. Ford FE parts aren’t cheap, but is there anything I should really look out for?
It was running prior to the frost plug popping, but hasn’t been started since the fall.

I’d like to leave the original heads, and block as much as possible.

‘66 Ford Fairlane GTA Another one!

Hey! You might remember me as the ‘70 Shelby restomod guy, but I also do normal cars too. My wedding was on Friday and I’m currently on honeymoon, however I sent my old man and a close friend to go collect this for me.

It’s a ‘66 GTA Fairlane, 390 Auto car. Got it for $9,000 Canadian with a literal ton of parts, the owner had it about five years and then passed away, however we will get it done.

I’ll post more as we go, can’t wait to get into this one!
