After Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Ghidorah was basically positioned as the MonsterVerse’s “final boss problem”, a planet-scale extinction event, tanking oxygen, shrugging off nukes, and requiring a literal nuclear-powered Godzilla + Mortha spirit power-up + human nuclear bait plan just to barely win.

Then after that, things got a bit weird. In later appearances during the Godzilla vs. Kong era and especially how the franchise pivots into the Hollow Earth lore, Ghidorah’s threat level feels kind of “recontextualized” in a way that I kinda read as a downgrade. Instead of staying that unstoppable apocalyptic force, he gets reduced to a head/brain influence plot device (Mechagodzilla situation), framed more like a tool or ingredient for Walter Simmons (not an interesting villain at all tbh) rather than the villain, and generally treated less like “the thing that almost ended the world” and more like “yeah, we harvested that guy for a robotic receiver.”

Even when he took control of Mecha-G and put the breaks on Godzilla, he got taken out in only a few minutes, essentially just killing him off and leaving no reasonable way to bring him back. That shift is what rubs me the wrong way. It’s not that Ghidorah suddenly becomes weak in a direct fight, it’s that the narrative gravity around him drops. In KOTM, he’s a mythic extinction-level being; afterward he’s more like a biological MacGuffin with attitude issues. On top of that, the now goofy nature of the Monsterverse that came with the next two films, it makes the Endgame feel of KOTM feel more underwhelming, because pretty much every mainline sequel antagonist in fiction, “the villain for the next part needs to feel more powerful and threatening than the film before.”

Honestly, the best way to bring back the feeling of KG from 2019 would be a prequel series, but we have to see if they end up doing that.

Harley Sawyer (Poppy Playtime): An infamously malevolent, ruthless, manipulative and heartless sociopath that turned children into mascots, which led to the entire factory of Playtime Co. being killed in the Hour of Joy. Despite all of that happening, he was put on the Near Pure Evil Wiki for having an abusive and harsh upbringing, given how it's specified he never missed his home, isolated himself, believed that no one cared for nor understood him and Elliot himself even theorized that he was not surrounded by kindness

The Dark Lord (Animation vs Animator): The evil counterpart, younger brother and former best friend-turned-second arch-nemesis of the Chosen One. Upon destroying Alan's PC in Season One, he and the Chosen One went on a rampage across the Internet for two years, terrorizing websites such as Yahoo!, StickPage and Newgrounds, as well as video games such as Angry Birds, which eventually makes the Chosen One develop second thoughts about their atrocities while the Dark Lord sadistically continues without any reluctance. However, despite being Pure Evil in canon, there are many fans who don't see him as such. There is quite a vocal fanbase that portrays the Dark Lord in a sympathetic light, due to him being betrayed by the Animator and claiming that his friendship with the Chosen One was truly genuine, and their fight was born out of a misunderstanding
