There is a full explanation for everything that happened leading up to this map, but it’s funnier if you only get small pieces of information.

The map is set in 2050 but the reason for its existence goes back 100 years

The hermit kingdom: Brexit means Brexit. No one gets to land on the shores of Britain.

European Federation: after being abandoned by the American federation during the first Russian war. Europe federalised to become a true superpower that could win the war.

European Ukraine: during the first Russian war (formerly known as the Russian-Ukrainian war) Ukraine joined the European Federation as a full member state. In the aftermath of the second Russian war Ukraine seized Some Russian Oblasts to put under its own protection.

Supervised Belarusian state: during the inter war period the Belarusian-European candidate state fell to a foreign military coup. So in the aftermath of the second Russian war, the country was turned into disarmed supervised state by the European Federation.

Disarmed Republics of Russia: after the second Russian war. Russia was deemed unfit for nationhood and divided into 25 dependent republics which are banned from having militaries.

Confederation of Nordic nations: in the lead up to the expansion of the first Russian war, the Nordic Council re-organised itself into the confederation of Nordic Nations, which is a union that unites the foreign relations and armies of all involved nations (kingdom of Norway, kingdom of Sweden, state of Iceland and abandoned British islands, Republic of Finland-Karelia.) confederation of Nordic Nations has good relations with the European Federation. They even run military exercises together.

Free city of Copenhagen: after an incident perpetrated by the European Federation near the end of the first Russian war. Anti-EF riots engulfed Copenhagen. The Confederation of Nordic Nations refused to acknowledge the situation and the refugees. After the first Russian war, the city was granted independence and now is filthy rich off of being the main connector between the Nordic and Europe.

Neo-tsardom of Saint Petersburg: during the second Russian war the city and the surrounding oblasts refused to participate responding with massive riots. An activist claiming to be a long lost Romanov started leading the riots and eventually proclaimed the neo-tsardom as an independent country.

Turkish republic: Turkey stayed neutral during both Russian wars and instead slowly improved its democracy and economy.

Caucasus protectorates: after the devastation of the Russian wars. These countries needed financial and political support. Turkey provided tons upon tons of material and financial support causing these countries to fall under the influence of Ankara.

Tannu tuva: through the help of Mongolia tannu tuva gained independence during the first Russian war and is doing pretty well for itself today.

Anarchy of Siberia: With the destruction of The Russian wars. Siberia was cut off from European Russia causing the region to fall into anarchy. Nobody knows what happens there.

Qing Vladivostok: During the first Russian war. Qing emperor seized at the chaos and established a puppet state centred in Vladivostok. Japan took Sakhalin.
