They got the 7 Train now.
I browsed through the server to find out that even one of the 7's R188 fleet is now a hot car.

This T/O was very well aware of the lead car being the foamer car, so he came up with the idea to do a group photo with us and others.
To sum it up, the first Coney Island-bound trip went well, but the second Coney Island-bound trip was a disaster because of a brawl at Atlantic Avenue? What was that about?

So I was checking the planned service change calendar, and apparently, there's a service change notice where there is no 2 Train service south of 34th Street-Penn Station. What does this mean? Will 2 and 5 swap routes in the Bronx again?
Because last time there was no Broadway-7th Avenue service to Brooklyn, the 2 and 5 Trains swapped routes in the Bronx to allow a one-seat ride to Flatbush Avenue via Lexington Avenue on a 5 Train from Wakefield-241st Street. 3 Trains were also suspended, but the MTA hasn't revealed anything yet.
As much as this may inconvenience me and other riders who live near/take the 1/2/3, I hope this G.O does become a thing so I can record a rare "34th Street-Penn Station-bound 2 Express Train" announcement and railfan the 4 Train at all 3 Train stops without having to do it overnight, because we all know how quirky East New York and Brownsville get at that hour.
If anyone who works at the MTA knows about this, please let me know if it happens!!
At 51 minutes and 58 seconds of video about the MTA's board meeting on June 22, 2026, they have confirmed that after the D Train gets its fair share of R211's, the N, Q and W are all next.
This is a huge win for people who take the N, Q and W. I've been concerned about the N and W running with R68/A's exclusively because it will be a nightmare changing one sign into another from car to car.
As for the R, People who take the R already have this luxury, thanks to the R160's that it absorbed from the N, Q and W. I've been seeing comments asking if the R Train is also getting R211's, the answer is no.
That route is housed at Jamaica Yard, and it's doing perfectly fine with the R160's.
There's no 1 Train service between Riverdale and Inwood because this suspension is accommodating a lot of track replacement. I go to the A Train's 207th Street station to find out that a train was removed from service at PABT, delaying service by a bit.
Uptown C Train service also runs express from 59th Street to 125th Street, making A, C and D services run every 14 minutes due to them all running on one track and flagging. Thoughts on this nightmare?
Last Monday night on my way home, I came across the entire front car signed up as a 9. This was foolishly done to reflect the "Express 145th-96th Street" service change by conquestors. This allowed a "trip back in time" to when 9 service was a thing.
The only two trains I rely the most on are the ones to get partially suspended in one morning.
Last Thursday, I decided to make a video on a front view-ride along to Times Square, until this train operator/conductor "crashes out" and says "I said no! anywhere but on 'my' tunnels!" like dude, these aren't your personal tunnels.
It's also sad that he makes great announcements for the shuttle as well.
Avoid a front view-ride along with him at all costs!
EDIT: Shoutout to everyone who clarified a work train has derailed! On my way home, it turns out it was the R110A Pump Train that derailed!
ORIGINAL: Was it another R142 subway car splitting up at Times quare?
Yeah, I said it. Anyone living along the N/W Line will not be getting an official new subway car on their commute for the next few years.
This is because the next subway line to get new subway cars is the D Line. Once the D Train gets all its new subway cars within YEARS after this post, the N and W are next.
I guess the service disruptions due to "a train with mechanical problems" will have to continue and we all have to live with it for that time.
The N and W have gotten an upgrade, but they were displaced to the E, F and R Lines.
So remember last year where the MTA was swapping and moving various subway cars to have them run on the G Line because of subway car issues? As the old subway cars are getting retired, I wanted to find out, which style of G Train do you prefer riding?
Picture 1: R46
Picture 2: R68/A
Picture 3: R160
Picture 4: R211A
Picture 5: R211T (the one where you can legally walk between train cars!)
I've been reading many comments that either praise or hate the new trains and I want to find out from the Harlemites, which train do you prefer on your commute?
I've been seeing reroute videos, and experiencing reroutes myself. In scheduled reroutes, I see passengers immediately exit the train when it's not going to their destination. (2/5 to New Lots, N/R to 96th Street, R to Bensonhurst)
In unplanned reroutes, I just see passengers board the train anyways, unaware of the reroute. (Remember March 10th?)
Example:
"2 TO NEW LOTS AV"
"5 TO NEW LOTS AV"
"N TO 96 ST"
"R TO BAY PKWY VIA WEST END"
People who expect the train to go towards Brooklyn College and Bay Ridge exit the train immediately. Why is that?
Since the orange seaters are gone from the A and C Lines, I want to find out what you all think about the subway modernization.
Okay, so you know how Queens Boulevard had Fresh Pond, ENY and Jamaica Yard R160's to begin with? Since Queens Bouelvard or "Quibble" CBTC went into effect, Quibble has been operating with R160's exclusively, from Avenue X, Coney Island (sometimes), Jamaica, Fresh Pond and East New York Yards. Central Park West appears to be doing the same thing.
We already have R211's running on the A, B and C Lines. D is next. Back in the olden days, R32's, R40's, R42's, R44's, R46's and R68's were the mainstay for CPW and Quibble. With the increase of R211's coming to the D Line in the next few weeks (or months), Central Park West will soon operate with R211's exclusively.
Both trunk lines will have some R179's for you to ride, courtesy of the A, C and M Lines. But the variety won't be enough. The entire IRT (except the 7) will also lose its subway car variety in exchange for R262's. Cherish everything while it lasts, even if the subway car you ride has a "mechanical problem" that will cause it to be taken OOS.
