The Dreamcast VMU (and the Dreamcast itself) remains unmatched to this day. (Picture from the Dreamcast Junkyard)
I’m replaying Code Veronica, and I still can’t believe how good it looks for a 26 year old game. The lighting and graphics are amazing, but the fact that you can just quickly look at your VMU and instantly see your health and status without opening a menu is still mindblowing to me.
The VMU was a nice innovation, even including mini games you could play. Things like this (combined with its amazing library released in just three years of life) are why I consider the Dreamcast the greatest console of all time.
I really wonder what would have happened if we got 3 or 4 more years out of it. I would have loved to see Shenmue 3 released on this console, Castlevania or more online games.
The only fault I can find is that it didn't release any good strategy games (would have loved to see Starcraft, Warcraft, Command & Conquer or something similar on this console) but then it would be perfect, lol.
Beginning a new journey
It's been a few years since I've played, it's that time again.
After 3 days scratching my head trying to make the game steam version work @ 3440x1440 resolution ultrawide, I finally made it work with the GOG version and Xuul guide (dialogues seem to be working fine). I also applied the community patch succesfully. It still looks amazing.
I usually play scout so this time I will play a scoundrel. I will probably go down the sith force user route. Any tips how to make this work? If I remember correctly scoundrel has attack bonus when hitting incapacitated targets, I don't remember if this worked with force powers like lightning.
Anyway, it's not like the game is too hard, but feeling OP is always nice considering the main plot.
