Best RK Questions for Dubious Knowledge

Title is pretty much the post; when you have Dubious Knowledge, what kinds of questions about your opponents are you asking to get the most use out of it?

Example, asking for its best defense, you might get "AC or Reflex" which lets you prioritize targeting its fortitude and will saves. VS asking for its worst defense, if you get "AC or Reflex" one of those might be its highest defense and you have to coin flip on targeting the right one.

What happened to my lettuce?

Hi folks! This is still my first foray into really any kind of plant growing.

Awhile back, I started this romaine lettuce plant using kratky, and it has been healthy! I've been growing it out of an extra cube at my office, with a timed light for the weekends. It was doing great when I left on Friday, and we have actually gotten a few smaller leaves off of it already, as I was told taking the outer leaves off promotes growth.

However, when I came into the office this morning, I found it like this! Even the roots seem to have died off, but I have no clue why. It still has water inside, there's nothing icky looking in it, but it looks dehydrated? Any ideas?

I do already feel like I've learned a shit ton on this first attempt, and I want to try again with this lettuce I'm using farmers almanac heirloom romaine if it matters, and foxfarm grow big 6-4-4.

Radiant Bond + Harmonies?

I was toying around with Mystic a bit today when I came across this particular feat, which I had read before, but I had a thought and am looking for a why or why not it works or not. I did some looking but didn't find anything definitively stating one way or another, so I am inclined to think this does work.

Just as a review, under normal circumstances, your Transfer Vitality triggers your Harmony, which usually refers to 'the target' of your Transfer Vitality.

For our example, lets say a level 6 Shadow Mystic with the Radiant Bond feat uses Transfer Vitality to give every ally in their bond 1 hit point.

  • Would your Harmony trigger for each target of your Transfer Vitality, creating a 10ft emanation of dim light around each person?
  • Yes or no, is there any specific thing saying so? If not, what is a similar reference point?
  • If yes, would each target only be concealed and able to Hide while within their own 10ft emanation of dim light, or would they be concealed while within any of the emanations?

ASI For Level 4 Wizard! (5e Original)

Okay folks, this time I am asking about my Lore Mastery Wizard - using the UA, but we have edited the rules of it to remove the ability to change saving throws. I am playing a Mark of Healing Halfling, and we just got to level 4, so I am debating on what to spend my ASI on (and hey, spell suggestions wouldn't go amiss either)

Current Stats: Str 8, Dex 16, Con 14, Int 18, Wis 14, Cha 12. Average of 26 HP, 16 AC with Mage Armor. We have a planned max of 13 but that could change yknow how it is.

Current Spells: Absorb Elements, Detect Magic, Find Familiar, Mage Armor, Magic Missiles, Shield, Unseen Servant -- Augury, Lesser Restoration, Web

I am thinking to grab Phantasmal Force and Flaming Sphere as my next 2 spells. We haven't had many opportunities to learn extra spells, as those of you counting may notice.

For the 4th level ASI, I am currently kinda leaning towards Int 20, but I did put all of my skill proficiencies into the knowledge skills to maximize the effects of Lore Mastery, so maybe something like Skilled to grab Perception + Investigation + Stealth would be worthwhile. Or something entirely separate! Though I have kinda been leaning away from half feats since all my stats are even. Honestly, I'm open to suggestions here.

Flavoring Spells as 'Summons'

I made a similar post over on r/DnD but seeing as this isn't a system specific question, I want to ask here too! Made it there first because I think Eldamon

I've recently been playing through Echoes of Wisdom again, and it got me thinking about how you could flavor spells in a similar fashion. If you aren't aware, in that game, you are able to create temporary clones of all kinds of creatures and objects - but I think for our purposes, leaning more into the creatures aspect could be fun. Also think like, Final Fantasy summons, but less OP for lower level spells, or maybe like some Elden Ring Arts of War.

So, what ideas do you all have for making spells into temporary 'summons' without necessarily changing their effects? Some examples I've already thought of to kick things off:

Detect Magic: Summoning a spectral dwoemercat to point magic out to you before fading.

Detect Metal: Similar to the above, but with a Xorn

Wooden Double: This one is easy! A summoned wood elemental pushes you out of the way of a blow, taking it for you.

Zephyr Slip: A similar idea, you summon a spectral bird to swoop down and pull you away from your target.

Noise Blast: You call down a mpeshi to land in the area, causing its thunderous fall.

TL;DR - I wanna be good at knowledge skills, debating between KNowledge Cleric 1/Lore Bard X or just full Lore Bard X. Is the dip worth it?

Hi folks! One of my groups has been planning the next campaign we will be doing, and I have gotten the OK from my GM to make a Lore Bard that uses Int as their key attribute. So, for all of my Bard features, I can replace Cha with Int. I am not allowed to multiclass into any other Int classes, but beyond that, anything is fair game.

Primarily, my goal with this character is to be REAL good at all of the knowledge skills; Nature, Arcana, Religion, and History, because this is going to be in the Theros setting, and as it'll be our first time playing there, I want to be a bit of a vessel for exposition. I wouldn't mind Investigation and Perception being good as well, but the primary four are what I'm looking to use.

We rolled for stats, and I rolled 16, 16, 14, 13, 12, 8. We start at level 4 and planning on going up to 12-14.

I don't want to just play a Wizard, because my character is going to be an Oracle of Karametra, and I want to have access to more healing and support than the Wizard list gets normally. The Eberron races and Strixhaven backgrounds are not allowed. That being said, I wouldn't mind filling some of the more support role that Wizard does, so I am considering looking for a way to pick up Ritual Caster.

SO TO THE POINT OF THE POST! I am probably playing a variant human, and am torn between either Knowledge Domain Cleric 1/Lore Bard 3, or Lore Bard 4 to start.

Knowledge Domain 1/ Lore Bard 3

  • It has almost everything I want! Medium armor and shield proficiency to protect me, two extra skill expertises so that I can start the campaign with all 4 knowledge skills expertised, and access to Identify straight up is nice. I can use variant human to take Ritual Caster as well.
  • Downsides? I delay my Bard progression, which delays a lot of the fun things I want from Bard. Yknow, like my spells known, Magical Secrets, and recovering my Bardic Inspirations.

Lore Bard 4:

  • I get the full bard progression this way. I also start with a feat or ASI, so I could take Moderately Armored to make up for my armor, or skill expert to get an extra expertise on top of Ritual Caster.
  • But I can't get Moderately Armored, all 4 expertises, and Ritual Caster all at 4!

Hi folks! In the near future, my group will be starting Stolen Fate, and I've chosen to play a mutagenist Alchemist, but the subclass is less relevant to this problem I'm having.

See, as part of our starting gear, since we start at level 11, I went through all the alchemical items and bought formulas for any of them I thought might be even kinda useful... so I've got just about 80 formulas, not counting variants per level for each formula. I don't want to slow down play, so my goal is to sort them all into subcategories in a spreadsheet so that I can quickly find the effects I am looking for.

I'm a bit stumped on how exactly I want to sort everything out though. My initial thought is to have categories for Staples, Inflicting Conditions, Curing Conditions, Boosting Skills, and Boosting Saves, as well have having a general category for Bombs, Poisons, and Mutagens. (I'm fine with there being overlap in these categories.) The idea is that I would be able to swap to the relevant tab and use ctrl+f to search for the effect I am looking for, or browse when it isn't my turn in combat.

So, my question is; how have you all organized your high level Alchemists to try and prevent slowing down play? And do you have any suggestions for ways to improve my idea, or alternate ideas?
