Which one of you is taking our supplies home?

No wonder so many things are on back-order.

Edit: this was meant as a humorous post. I am confident these are taken for humanitarian or educational reasons or are being transported to/from satellite sites.

Do your facilities and practices allow you to use personal equipment in patient care applications?

For those who use their own video laryngoscopes and portable ultrasounds in a hospital setting: did you have to get the equipment approved by clinical engineering? I have heard that using unapproved equipment leaves you open to additional liability if something goes wrong.
If you obtained approval, how did you go about getting that approval and inspection?

Anesthesiology research: is it more “meh” than other fields or am I able to be more critical of our own field?

Let me start by saying that these are just opinions and sentiments and I recognizing and I appreciate the dedication and hard work of academic anesthesiologists, students, residents, and CRNAs who advance our field further.

That being said, I am developing a feeling that sizable portion of research published in the field of anesthesiology is unimpressive or repetitive. I keep reading the same article about PONV rates, PACU opioid use, pre-op risk stratification for various intraop events, DL vs VL, etc.

Is it just me? Or am I being overly critical? I am not set in my ways and would be open to evidence-based improvements to my practice, but none of these papers are moving any needles for me.

Talk me out of (or into) a GV80

I know I am asking a biased crowd but I will take biased and knowledgeable. Any big issues these vehicles are known for?

Coming from Tucson Hybrid limited and would like to wait for the HEV GV80 if/when it comes out in the next 12 months. Appreciate if anyone has experience comparing this to the X5 and Q7.

I haven’t had time to test drive these which I admit will be big deciding factor.

What are some downsides of or bad personal experiences you have had with RVU-based “eat what you kıll” model?

I’ve heard that RVU based model can create unpredictable pay to unfair assignments. But wondering if that is true and whether there are other downsides to a hunter-gatherer workplace?

Low limits => high utilization percentage => lower credit score

This may be ill informed question based on false assumptions: let’s say one spends $750 on the $1500 credit limit card. Doesn’t that 50% utilization rate negatively affect the credit score?

Seat question when traveling with baby

I have a question for those who have flown on the A319 business. We will be traveling with a baby (~12 months) and during his wake hours which coincide with this flight he will not stay in his car seat. So getting 3 seats like we usually do for longer or overnight flights seems unhelpful. My question is which row would be best when traveling with a lap infant. Front because you have more legroom and maybe can open a small blanket for him to sit and play? (Not sure if that is even allowed) or second and third row for larger seats and underfoot storage for diaper bag?

Apologies if this post isn’t allowed. I am new to AA and this sub.

Looking for a broker in NY/NJ area who can facilitate trading in a leased Hyundai with positive equity for a BMW X5.

Hyundai lease is nearing its end and based on offers and payoff amount I have about 4-5k positive equity that I am hoping to roll towards a new lease. Not sure if there are large dealer networks that can do the buy out of the captive lease.
Apologies if this post is not allowed. I am new here and found this sub to be the most knowledgeable about this topic.
Thanks

When Measures become Outcomes…

What are some of the strangest, silliest, or outright counterproductive measures and metrics do you have at your places?

I’ll go first,

  1. One year survival for (liver) transplants, which ends up translating to months-long ICU stays and comfort care not being discussed or offered to patients who are clearly not getting better.

  2. Reducing CLABSI rates by not drawing cultures.

A relative traveling in a separate itinerary on our flight was given this group. Does anyone know what this means? They are TSA precheck.
