I think I have finally hit a wall I am not sure how I can deal with
I started learning guitar about an year ago, it must be around 15 months by now.
I have reached the point where the songs im working on our only limiting me by the speed factor. For example these are 3 songs i've been working on
Buried Alive (by a7x)- I haven't gone past the solo, I can play the solo note by note...yes but in the same tempo? no I have been gnawing away at the tempo since September 2024 but my improvement in the tempo is just maybe by like 20 bpm at best.
One Day Remains(By alter bridge)- Started working on this one maybe 3 months ago and i see the result for this one a bit more clearly, I can remember making progress on tempo for this track and im maybe up to 90 or 95% of the speed
Bark At The Moon(Ozzy..RIP)- Started working on this one just a little lesser than a month ago, I'm stuck at maybe half the speed of the original, I can't seem to speed up.
How do I get past this and stop this from clouding or slowing me down?
River has to be one of the most beautiful songs Opeth has ever recorded
I have always wanted to come up with chords like how opeth did
And one thing I've been told and I've noticed is he uses a lot of minor 7th and suspended chords etc
I understand learning some basic jazz theory would help but how do I apply it into a metal or melodic context instead of basic major/minor/power chords ???
