NKDA - recent post

Evening all,

I'm sure some of you will have seen the recent post where someone was complaining about being injected with NKDA and that they were allergic to it. Several people pointed out that this stands for No Known Drug Allergy.

It became clear that this person was a troll (they have been on Reddit 7 days, and in that time have had professional medical discussions in a couple of respected medical subs, where they came across as a medical professional).

Not sure why they felt the need to post that thread, but the point of my post here is simply to say that if you think someone is trolling or ragebaiting, please use the report tools. There were 19 responses to the post, several people calling out the bait, but yet nobody reported it at all.

We can avoid pointless ragebait by reporting the posts and they will be moderated accordingly.

Thanks!

Being asked to act up, but also do existing role

Evening all,

I'm looking at tomorrow with dread again.

I was an 8a in the dept, and felt like I was just about keeping up, but needed about 10hrs additional per week to ensure I wasn't drowning.

Recently the 8b retired, and I was asked to act up into the role. I agreed, but then I discovered that due to financial constraints, the 8a role I was doing is not being backfilled, and nobody is covering.

I asked the Exec for some clarification, and was told that I needed to manage it.

So I delegated a few things to the 6s in the dept, but really, it's grossly unfair to give them more tasks when they're not getting any additional compensation for it, so I don't feel I can ask more of them.

However, I'm now trying to do the 8a and the 8b roles, and it's just not feasible. I made it clear to the Exec that trying to do both meant that some things won't get completed, and the response was 'So be it. Prioritise where your time is needed'.

I understand the pressure from the financial situation, but I'm not the kind of person who can just ignore some things because they're not a priority. In the 5 weeks I've been trying to do both roles, I'm putting in 20+hrs a week additional to my contracted hours. It feels hugely unsustainable.

Is this happening across other Trusts as well?

Yet another issue with multiple conflicting apps

Hi All,

I've had a dig through different forums, but I'm not sure I've got to the bottom of my particular issue.

I've got:

* Audi Q4 E-Tron 2026, and the MyAudi app

* Project EV charger, running off the Apex EV app

* Octopus Intelligent Go, with the Octopus app

Octopus advised that we turn off all settings on the MyAudi app and the APEX app regarding charge times and departure times, and manage it all via the Octopus app. I was a little sceptical (because of course Octopus would say we should use their app and not anyone else's), but we did as suggested.

The issue we have is that we plug into the charger, and then the MyAudi app gives an error saying there's a technical fault. When I check the MyAudi app, it has reverted back to departure time charging, and has picked a random day/time.

On the back of other threads in this sub, I've tried to run updates on the car's MMI (there are none), and checked that there are not time-based settings around the home location in the MMI too (there are none). The Octopus app and the APEX app don't change any settings on their own. Only the MyAudi app.

This was all working fine until we recently changed to Octopus Intelligent Go, and registered the car with the Octopus app.

Has anyone got any ideas why the MyAudi app keeps changing back to departure time charging, or which of the other apps is pushing through this change? The MyAudi and APEX apps have had all their settings removed to the point that they're dumb, but the MyAudi app seems unable to handle that and insists on timed charging.

Hiking this weekend between Ribblehead and Hardraw

I live in Yorkshire anyway, but even so, I still find this area of the county to be utterly spectacular.

I'm going to the cat. Don't try and stop me.

She's right there, snoring away like she pays rent.

I know I shouldn't the cat, but I think I have to.

Panicked my cat was injured and bleeding

Turns out, she wasn't hurt at all. Instead, she's rubbed against the tomato passata carton when I wasn't looking.

The red smudge on her shoulder and paw wasn't blood, it was tomato.

Here is a picture of her completely oblivious to the stress she caused for about 20mins until I figured out what had happened, and after she'd had a wash and there was no evidence left.

My wife came home and thought I was having a mental breakdown.

Roland TD516 Crash 2 cable?

Afternoon all. I'm excited to set up my Roland TD516 today, but have found that Crash 2 is a bit confusing. There's no cable for it at all.

The cable snake out the module has 5 ends (kick, crash 1, tom 1, tom 2 and tom 3), whilst there are also 3, USB connections (hats, snare, ride).

Crash 2 is left without any connections, and no obvious inclusion in the cable snake. There's also no cable separate in the box either, as far as I can tell.

I notice There's a few posts about this kick and Crash 2 have 2x inputs (cable goes in either Crash or ride triggers, depending on how you want to use it, but not both), but I can't see any info on what to do with Crash 2.

The instructions suggest it's meant to be connection cables in the kit, but there are not. Has anyone any ideas?

She's obsessed with the sink

Whenever I use the sink for anything, she squeaks and comes running. She'll leap up onto the worktop and sit in the sink to play with the water. The only time she doesn't get in the sink is if the plug is in and the water is filling up.

She'll sit in the sink and bat the water with her paws, or try to chomp it. She doesn't seem bothered by it soaking her head/neck/back/paws.

Anyone know why she loves to do this? Her brother, a slightly crackers tuxedo cat (same litter) is not at all interested.

Why show me the belly, if I'm not allowed to stroke the belly?

She flaunts her belly at me, but when I try to stroke it, I get chomped.

Why set such an obvious trap, and why do I fall for it every time?

Is she an evil genius?

Is her face swollen, or am I overreacting?

Her face looks asymmetrical, and although I've not noticed it before, she seems to have one side of her face (the colour smudge side) that's puffed out in comparison to the other side.

I saw her chasing some bees and bugs in the catio yesterday, so wondering if she may have bumped her face, or maybe been bitten/stung.

Either way, does this look swollen to anyone else, or am I looking for something that's not really there? We'll get her to the vet if we think there's an issue, but right now, it's just me and my 10yo kid at home, so I can't really get another opinion.

I built something for my cats, and they're actually using it!

Large catios were coming out at £500 or so, and they weren't the right sized for what I needed, so with a mixture of Screwfix and B&Q, I built my own.

Obviously, whenever you do anything for cats, you run the very real risk of them absolutely ignoring it, so to put £250 and a weekend of work into something was a pretty big gamble.

However, I'm delighted to report my cats are thrilled with what I've built, and are using it regularly.

We live very close to an A road, so letting them out was never on the cards, and they were rescued as indoor cats. However, they have had all their jabs, so they were vaccinated like outdoor cats. I figured there was a part of the garden that wasn't being used, and it could be accessed by a window, so I gave it over to a catio.

Some scratchy stuff, things to climb, a little house, a cheap tray and a branch from a nearby copse of woods, and they're loving it.
