Today is Digital Independence Day - a day where we try to make a small step into European independence. Because it’s hard to switch all the platforms and software at once, we do it one by one. Also there are local events (so far mostly in Germany) to help others or receive help in doing it.

I just had the chance to test a PB Touch HD3 for a while. It was my first e-Reader and I really liked the experience. Sure, sometimes it was a little slow but for simple reading it was just fine. That’s why I thought about buying one myself.
Currently there are no price worthy offers for a (used) Touch HD3 so I was looking for the following model Verse Pro. The used THD3 I could find cost almost the same as a new Verse Pro, so it seems to be a no-brainer to go with the newer one.
Unfortunately I read also many bad reviews about the Verse Pro. Is it really that bad in quality, especially compared to the THD3? Or did I received a wrong picture? It’s not urgent for me, so I could also wait for a better offer instead of buying the VersePro now.

Clickbait title. But am I the only one who thinks the ‚Rider of the race‘ voting is completely useless currently?
The biggest reward for a good race is a win. The second would be on the podium. It’s obvious who earns those, we don’t need another public vote for that.
IMHO the ‚Rider of the Race‘ should reward something outstanding, a honourable performance for someone who doesn’t get rewarded during the usual ceremony. Right now the votes are usually between the riders being in P1 and P2 after 3/4 of the race…and/or Marc Marquez. Yeah, we know they are very strong in this race. No need for the additional vote.
Instead give it to someone who really did an outstanding job without being honoured with a medal. Like Marini pushing the Honda on P5 last GP. Or Miller with P8 on a Yamaha. Or Lecuna in P7 as a Wildcard. Or DiGia in P12 after being cleared out in T1.
My idea: you can vote for anyone. But someone winning the race or being on the podium will be eliminated from the competition after the race and whoever gets the very next most votes will be crowned ‚Rider of the race‘. That would be a way more interesting ‚discussion‘ of the rider performances instead of just repeating what everyone already could see.
But sometimes the winner/podium finisher had the most outstanding and impressive performance. Shouldn’t this be honoured?
Yes, sometime it is like this. But you can add extra rules, to make this possible. Like for example someone having many overtakes and gaining 10 positions after lap 1 and then winning the race will still be eligible for the ‚rider of the race‘ award. But not someone winning straight from pole, this is already enough.
My opinion: make the vote more interesting and useful and not just a vote about who is currently the fastest on track or most popular rider. Or stop it at all. The way it is right now it’s not worth to block part of the screen with a QR code during the race.
What are your ideas to improve ‚rider of the race‘? Or do you really prefer it the way it is now?
