I’m going on a longer cruise in March (22 days, transatlantic crossing) on the NSC Seaview. I've booked a standard balcony stateroom, without Aurea. About half of the days will be pure sea days with no shore excursions.

Now I’m considering purchasing the option to use the Thermal Area as an add-on.

I’ve watched a few YouTube videos about the Thermal Area on the Seaview and I’m really unsure. It seems generally quite nice, but overall the area strikes me as rather small and cramped for the size of the ship. In the videos, the Thermal Area is always empty....

Does anyone know the Thermal Area on this ship and can share their experience? I like saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, and relaxation rooms—but I hate it when everything is (too) crowded and noisy. I’m looking more for peace and relaxation. Is that generally possible, or not really? I’m also happy to go during off-peak hours if that’s possible (when is the best time?).

I’m not interested in spa services (massages, etc.).

I’m thinking about taking a “Grand Voyage” (Atlantic crossing) in March 2027. The ship is the MSC Seaview, the trip lasts 23 days, and it goes from Rio de Janeiro to Genoa (Italy). This will be my first cruise. However, I’m not sure when the best time to book is in terms of price.

Currently, there’s a promotion running through the end of July for a free upgrade, meaning I could get a balcony stateroom instead of a window stateroom. I’d really like a stateroom with a balcony.

But I’m speculating that such a long voyage with relatively many days at sea won’t be fully booked, and that significant discounts will be offered 1–2 months before the cruuse. Do you think that’s realistic?

What do the “pros” think is the best booking strategy? Should I book now, or is it better to wait?

Should I wait to book the beverage package and Wi-Fi, or book everything together?

I’m traveling alone and don’t absolutely have to take this trip; if it gets too expensive, I’ll pass. (I have to go from Brazil to Europe anyway around this time, so it would be just an alternative to flying).

Does anyone know if Porto Airport (OPO) is already using the new baggage scanners that allow up to 2 liters of liquid in carry-on luggage? I only travel with carry-on luggage, but I wanted to bring 1–2 bottles of port wine home with me. I’d rather buy it at a local store or directly from the producer than at the overpriced duty-free shop...

Ich bin auf der Suche nach einem guten digitalen Fleischthermometer zur Kerntemperaturmessung, welches man auch über längere Zeit direkt auf dem Grill verwenden kann. Es muss also zu einem gewissen Grad hitzstabil sein, inkl. Kabel (falls Kabel vorhanden).

Es muss nicht smart sein, also nicht unbedingt übers Handy les- und steuerbar sein - ist aber auch ok, falls es so ist.

Preis sollte angemessen sein, also eher nicht >100 €. Ich bezahle lieber für Zuverlässigkeit und Beständigkeit, anstatt für aus meiner Sicht unnötige "Smart/KI"-Funktionen und Marketing.

Wer hat eine Empfehlung?
