Give Newsom the Anti-Worker Label for His Primary Run

Hi Everyone,

As a CA state worker and union member, I’d like to come here and encourage folks to really begin a push to label Gavin Newsom as Anti-Labor and Anti-Worker on a national level BEFORE he begins his presidential primary run. Hes seemingly one of the front runners and would absolutely take any chance he gets to lie to the public about being pro-worker when the reality for those in unions here in CA know better. While hed certainly be better than a republican, he would almost certainly be far worse than the entire rest of the dem primary field.

To catch you up here, Gavin isnt just a run of the mill corporate Democrat with weak labor stances. He has consistently been overtly hostile and at times discriminatory and spiteful toward some of our state worker unions. Most recently, his administration removed one of our unions (CAPS, UAW local 1115) negotiated raises even though the state had 25 billion more in revenue than initially projected. There was no real budgetary necessity for this removal. Not only that, but his administration withheld information about the removal of the contractual salary increase for several months, not allowing the union to negotiate in good faith to keep their raise. That behavior in our state govt is unheard of even during Republican admins. And its no coincidence that hes behaving this way against the one union who went on strike during his term. Heres a thread with more details on the situation: https://www.reddit.com/r/CAStateWorkers/s/w4e1HwPUgX

Outside of that, Newsom has been openly mocking and disdainful to California’s state workers and our unions during his return to office push that only serves to maintain corporate landlord property values (this isnt surprising when you learn some of his largest donors are those same corporate landlords - one of the largest corporate landlords is also the father of our Lt Governor).

In spite of the reality of his behavior towards unions, he will likely try to lean on bills that he was probably forced to pass out of political pressure to make it seem like he’s pro worker. Please don’t let him.

Begin organizing with your unions to call him out for this and spread the word. He’ll probably be the most anti-labor major candidate in the primaries in a few years and people outside of his state need to be aware.

Song with a chorus that just goes “ooooo ooooo ooooo ooooo”

Trying to figure out what that one song was that had a chorus that just went “oooo oooo oooo oooo”. I think it also had a lyric that went “wasting my time, wasting my time” or something. It was a mellow acoustic-y folk song with a male singer.

Any recs for ranges of around how long each session should be on the days im doing 2 disciplines? For context I’m strongest at biking and swimming and weakest by far at running.

Davis and Housing Measures

It will never not be funny to me that every single time I’ve seen a new housing development measure up for vote here that all the people come screaming about how theyre voting no because it doesnt guarantee enough low income units or some nonsense.

So your solution is to vote no on every single housing measure - absolutely guaranteeing that no low income housing is built and that the housing supply here remains incredibly restricted relative to the demand.

Glad we can rely and you all to drive up housing costs for young people and middle to low income folks. Your mentality is definitely not why California has an absolutely massive housing shortage.
