Please help identifying 3DS issue!

So, my 3DS has, for many years, had an odd screen brightness powering-off issue.

As a kid, I found the top screen to be very bright, and didn't seem to respond to brightness control, whereas my bottom one could.

If I remember correctly, depending on the hinge position it could also either work or pop and shut off.

So I dropped the brightness to one, and managed to keep it working, irrespective of the hinge position. This left me with a low brightness bottom screen and a high brightness top screen.

Well, after many years, I got the 3DS out of storage and bought it a charger. I was hoping to mod it!

Alas, I discovered the brightness difference and found it annoying.. I very quickly went to turn up the brightness in my settings.

Pop

Turns off.

I try to turn it back on..

Takes a second, then I see the screens show the home menu for a split second before, again, a pop and the device just completely shuts off.

I'd figured that it was a top screen related issue due to how brightness control worked for the bottom screen only. And of course, you naturally realise that if the hinge position affects the device's ability to switch on, that it would indicate a ribbon cable issue.

So, I found a guide and opened her up.

Here's what she looks like currently. I was hoping that simply reseating the screen connector cables would be enough, however it wasn't.

Instead I've completely disassembled it to get a look at those cables that pass through the hinge.

What I found is I think two tears affects two cables, one tear per cable. One that handles the camera, the other is that one that the speakers are soldered onto.

I'd like to ask, do you agree with me? Are those tears sufficient to cause this problem? And are they consistent with the symptoms I mentioned?

I'm guessing the camera module isn't as urgent, but the larger piece that connects to the top screen directly and connects the speakers, I'm guessing is the bigger problem.

Images 2-4 show the larger piece and two pictures of the suspected tear.

Images 5-7 show the camera module and again, two pictures of the suspected tear.

Both suspected tears would have occurred within the hinge.

If you lot agree, I'll just order replacements and hopefully get it fixed myself.

Thank you!

Bonus points if you can tell me the album I've currently got on my record player!

Edit: hope the images are clear enough to see the tears I'm hoping to show. Just realised a red circle may have been more useful!

How does this budget look for a single 24-year-old moving out on a £34k salary?

Edit: I'll be getting to all these answers in due time. But I just want to say a big sweeping thank you to all the advice in such a short amount of time. I seriously appreciate it all. Anyone stopping by, please feel free to keep putting me to shame.

Although generally, I've picked up on the fact that food and electrics need to be bumped up

I'm moving out for the first time for a graduate job and have been trying to estimate what my finances will look like. I'd appreciate some outside opinions on whether I've overlooked anything or whether any of my numbers are unrealistic.

I'm a single person moving to an apartment in the Northwest. The apartment is fully electric, so electricity covers both normal usage and heating.

My gross salary will be £34,000 per year, or £2,833 per month.

I've worked it out to be a net salary of £2,128.69 per month after tax, national insurance, pension and student loan repayments.

Essential budgeting:

- Rent £850

- Council tax £106.84

- Electricity £100

- Water £30

- Broadband £30

- Phone: £10

- Food: £150

- Bus travel: £110

- Contents insurance £12.50

A total of £1,399.34 per month.

As I've got it worked out, that leaves me with, roughly:

- £425.74 per month of savings

- £303.61 per month of "wants"

Roughly speaking, I was aiming for a 50/30/20-ish split, although the only category going by that rule are my savings at 20%. It's more like 65/15/20 currently.

A few things I'm particularly unsure about:

- Is £150 a month for food realistic, or am I underestimating it?

- Am I missing out any obvious costs I need to factor in? For info, I don't have a car. I also don't subscribe to anything like Netflix or Spotify. I've only my phone bill.

- Is that a reasonable amount I've allocated to my savings? I'm planning on building a buffer and then maximising my LISA.

- Most importantly, is this a reasonable budget to get by on? I want to understand how manageable things will feel.

If anything else stands out to you, please let me know. I'm interested to hear any thoughts.

And please don't spare my dignity. Feel free to point out any naivety lol

Thank you!

JBL Charge 6 best EQ settings?

Hello all!

I've recently picked up my own Charge 6 and am currently running through a range of EQ settings, figuring out what works best and what doesn't.

Due to the lack of multiple custom profiles in the app, comparison has become much more difficult than necessary!

And so, I come to you guys to see if you've got any profiles that you know are rock solid.

I hear that a recent firmware update may have changed how the speaker sounds and therefore find many past profiles lacking in different areas.

Hit me with anything you've got!

Many thanks :)

Edit: just to add. I find the bass to be a bit overwhelming in certain environments. As if it covers over the rest of the track and so have tended to tune it back a bit.

Generally speaking, I'm looking for as much clarity as possible across as many genres as possible.

Regional mascots before and after obliteration.

Cute little bunch. It'd be a shame if someone were to just...

Despite my destructive pursuits, I wish the devs would add a permanent mascot somewhere in each region. If you think similarly, please vote here on the Forza feedback portal!
