Too bad about the burn-ins.

Fun Fact: The US version of RPM Racing was 1 of very few games to utilize the SNES High Resolution Mode *448i* while the Japanese version stayed back with 224p (Just look at the difference in the title screen alone)

I'll just share this post from someone whose more experienced on this subject who goes by the name of @dsmania

"Explanation of what's going on here and why there's no speed up in the Japanese revision. The USA version is in 448i, in which the "i" represents it's interlaced, meanwhile the Japanese version is 224p. An interlaced video format is that in which in even frames you paint even lines, and in odd frames you paint odd lines. For this reason, in computational terms, in both cases in every frame only 224 lines are painted. Interlaced allows higher resolutions, yes, but also introduces a visual artifact which consists in a blinder effect when the image has changes: if you pause the image when they accelerate on a slope, or if you focus on the changing numbers of the time count, dark lines can be seen alternating with the expected image, these are the ones from the previous frame that are unchanged. For this reason also the texts in the American version are thicker: they had to duplicate the thickness so the artifact is less noticeable. In CRTs this effect was not a big issue because the image had a slower decay than in modern displays, producing a ghosting that made the blinder effect less noticeable.

CRTs also have an extra effect and is that they blur the image because the pixels are not just dots/squares (well, neither are in modern displays, but much less noticeable) and because how the light diffuses. This blur eases the pixellation and thus a higher resolution is not that of a big gain as would be nowadays. What about the horizontal resolution? In the American version it's double indeed, that means double the video memory, but not strictly much more computation is required (this is debatable but in general but there are no visual effects, just scrolling the terrain map, which is cheap), so using 224p would not save enough resources that would help accelerate the Japanese version. Also is worth noting that the vehicles in the US version seem at lower resolution compared to the terrain (they are the same in both versions) and this is because their pixels are duplicated horizontally, making them low res. On the other hand, since they had double the video memory, they had the chance to add textures for bushes and rocks. In my opinion, when playing this on a CRT, the interlacing is not noticeable but higher resolution is not a big gain either, meanwhile the rocks and bushes give a better finishing, and that might be the reason they changed this in the revision."

Rockman X3 - Reckless Irregular / card artwork fan restoration

This a Mega Man X trading card from the Bandai Carddass series set. What I love about this card is that it showcases many of the mid/side bosses of Mega Man X3 gathered together. When it comes to X3, I pretty much love all the enemy/boss designs of the game. This took a good few hours to clean up and polish. I started from the top & got pretty tired as I was reaching the bottom area, so I just slapped the 'CAPCOM' & 'Rockman X3' logo to call it a day, lol.

Card name is 'MEGA MAN X MEGA MISSION3 CARD / No 93 - Reckless Irregular'

Regarding their names...

  1. The green 1 in the very back is called - Maoh the Giant
  2. The orange 1 in front of it is called - Worm Seeker-R
  3. The 1 in front of it that looks like Vile is called - Hell Crusher
  4. Green 1 is called - Victoroid and the 2x Pink ones are called - Victoroid Customer

Cheers.

I’d like to nominate Fox McCloud for having the most redesigns of any Nintendo IP character.
