I stressed out about this decision for a few weeks while the Cybertruck was on order. I've had a few Teslas and love my Model Y. I cancelled my order this morning for this 2023 F150 Powerboost XLT with ProPower 7.2kW, FX4 and Tow Pkg @ 29k miles. I'll be adding Openpilot to it (long time user and contributor).
Regardless of the polarization of the CT (and politics), I just thought the CT was technically interesting, and I really enjoy FSD on my Model Y. However, $43k vs $80k with 100 mile range between charges, and Superchargers costing nearly the same as fuel did the decision for me.
I'm very interested in the new Ford and Ram EVs with the onboard gas generators for 700+ miles of range, if they ever come out. I think the CT will loose resale value quickly and be pointless once we have a sane option available to tow with an EV. This is why I didn't go for a Ford Lightning either, just not very practical towing my Travel Trailer.
Gonna pickup a Granger warranty for piece of mind and enjoy the truck! Part of me is still a little sad about the Cybertruck, but I would have gotten a new Ford or Ram EV with the gas generator in the future anyway.
