I'm looking for opinions from more experienced professionals on what they would do in this situation.

I started as a contractor for Company A about 2 weeks ago, but I also did an interview for Company B the day before starting Company A. Company B have now offered me a contract position (same role, negligible difference in pay). Would it be very unproffessional to hand in my notice after only 2 weeks? My fear is that I would burn bridges by doing this and make myself unemployable to Company A if I ever decide to return. All opinions are appreciated!

EDIT: Company A would let me save more money since I can stay with family but I would much prefer the location of Company B even if I would have to rent/commute.

Hi everyone,

My car was recently rear ended at my workplace through no fault of my own. The person who hit my car has admitted fault and I am dealing with their insurance to cover the repairs.

My question is regarding a diminished value claim. My car is a 2019 BMW with about 160,000km. The repairs require about €5000. I asked to file a diminished value claim with the insurance company and their response is as follows:

“With regards to the depreciation of your vehicle, we would not be able to cover this as it would only apply to vehicles which are up to 5 years old”.

Is there a legal basis to the 5 year age rule? My car has surely lost trade-in/resale value due to this accident. Is there anything I can do here?

I'm in a tough spot at the minute and would like to hear some advice from more experienced professionals in the industry.

I got a job offer for a role I'm 50-50 about. It's paying about 25k more than what I'm making now and is a lot closer to home, but the shift cycle 4 on 4 off means I lose 4 in every 6 weekends, making my personal comittments more difficult. I also think I would much prefer the culture of my current company to the new company. I'm working a shift pattern at the minute but it's more manageable. One important thing to note is that I will be looking for a mortage next year, and have discussed the job change with my mortgage advisor. I was told that it shouldn't be an issue with the underwriter as long as I pass probation. I was offered the role last Tuesday, and called my manager on the same day to let her know that I received an offer, but would stay if I got an increase. I was told that this would have to be escalated and that I would have an answer by this Thursday.

I emailed the recruiter on Monday to let him know that I'll accept the new role and I'm just waiting on a contract to sign now. My current contract requires a '1 month' notice and the induction date of the new role will be a little over a month. Should I hand in my notice today, but say that I can withdraw the notice if an acceptable pay raise is given?

Looking for advice here. My car was parked at work and got hit by a colleague. It moved my car about 30cm and skid marks were fairly visible on the ground. I got her name and phone number and had agreed that I would bring it to a mechanic and panel beater and get a quote and she would revolut me the cost.

Talking to a few coworkers though and they’ve told me to bring it to a main dealer and get the chassis and gearbox looked at as the car was parked and hand brake up. I didn’t get the persons insurance details but I imagine it wouldn’t be too hard to find since I have the persons car reg and phone number

Just wanting to know what I should do in this situation? I’m thinking of bringing it to a main dealer and also my local garage and getting assessments and then quotes from both

Hi everyone,

I am confident that I will receive a job offer for a role that I recently interviewed for. The role was advertised as €40/hr, however I have found out today that this is a 'blended rate', meaning that holiday pay is included into this rate and that I won't be paid for holidays when I take them.
I was sent an illustration by a recruiter which showed a breakdown of the €40/hr. Can anyone please let me know if this is correct or if I'm being taken for a ride?

Had applied for a contracting role at a company down south. Didn't inquire with my current recruitment company first as I was told before that they didn't recruit for the specific company that I had applied for. Submitted my CV, sent the new recruiter a statement saying that I agree to be represented by their recruitment company etc. Found out a few days later that my recruitment company was also recruiting for the same role. I would prefer to stay with my current recruitment company if that was a possibility, but I'm not sure if it is since my CV has already been submitted. Just wondering has anyone experienced this before and know what to do, or if there's nothing to be done and just go with the new company?

I’m working a shift job at the minute and I don’t think I can handle the rotation between nights/days much longer. I had started a mortgage application in 2024 and I believe I got approval in principle, but I didn’t know where I wanted to buy and haven’t looked at the application since. I want to get serious about buying a house in the coming months and hope to be moved in, or at least sale agreed by early 2027. My question is, if I get approval in principle again on my salary for my current role, would I need to get approval in principle again calculated on the salary of the new role if I were to get one? Or can I get away with saying nothing about switching jobs?

Whats with all the mongrels constantly joining Ranked 2v2s just to immediately leave? In that last 30 games I've played at least 8 of them I had a team mate who either instantly disconnected, or decided to run off the stage and die before even getting a weapon. I genuinely cannot understand why you would queue to play a team mode if you're only going to disconnect or troll.

Already have Act 9 100% explored and all Carina's challenges completed. I don't really play BG but wouldn't mind ranking someone up for it. Otherwise Necropolis/Epoch (God of War) are my next focuses.
