Reasons to be Catholic vs Orthodox

I‘m at a fork in the road where i want to become either Catholic or Orthodox, but both seem to have good reasons. it would probably wine a while before I make an official decision, but maybe yall can help give some insight.

reasons i would be Catholic

-I’ve felt drawn to it ever since I was a kid. I always felt it was so beautiful and holy. that feeling currently will not go away

- it’s beautiful. the music, the icons, everything

-some of the best people I know are Catholic. now keep in mind I’ve never met an Orthodox person, but there’s just something about Catholics.

-they have more schools, hospitals, and other organization you can clearly see how they contribute to the world

-they’ve spread a lot of Christianity throughout history

-i feel more connected to their Saints and their stories.

-they have more organizations in the world (schools, hospital, etc)

Reasons I wouldn’t become one right now

- Papal infallibility. I just have trouble believing it that’s all

- they allow Jesus to be depicted naked. I get why, but it just feels disrespectful

- the Blood is not always taken during Communion

-annulments inst of divorces. How can they know what a person intended to di wh saying vows? maybe they did mean every word at the time but just messed up horribly?

-they whole mortal vs venial sin thing. who are we to decide which sins are worse than the others?

-There are churches that Paul wrote to in the Bible that are stoll standing. All except one is Orthodox. The only one not Orthodox is Rome

Reasons to be Orthodox

- more traditional beliefs

- both the Body and the Blood are taken during Communion

- more individuality

-https://theuncreatedlight.substack.com/p/11-practical-reasons-to-be-orthodox numbers 1, 9,10, and 11 seem valid

-solve disputes and beliefs in a more communal way

They take both the Body and the Blood at Communion

Reasons i wouldn’t become one right now

- i genuinely feel no connection to them consistent. Not like i have with Catholicism. Now i know that feelings arent always a great way to make serious decisions, I think it could be God leading me to Catholicism. Unfortunately it could also be something evil leading me away from Orthodoxy. I’ve been praying to not be mislead.

My views are likely heavily influenced by my surrounding. i love in the south of the United aststes where there aren’t as many Orthodox as there are Catholics. Everything i know about Orthodoxy is through the internet. I was also raised Protestant so that also shapes my view. That is one reason why i do not think i will be making a final decision anytime soon. I just want insight right now. I may edit with more reasons later.

AITAH for leaving my boyfriend?

TW: abuse and rape mentioned

Please dont post this anywhere else I don’t want this all over the internet

So about a year ago i met my (now ex) boyfriend. At first everything was great. He was very supportive and sweet but things took a turn…

It started off with him being very sexual. I wasn’t a huge fan of it but i allowed it bc it didnt seem like a big deal. Then he got too physical. Not in a really intimate way (at first), but more like touching y hands and my face constantly. I’m not a huge fan of PDA or physical touch especially so early in a relationship, so i told him how i felt. I asked him to stop touching me so much an to stop saying so many suggestive things. He said he would stoop didn’t last long. He went right back to touching me. His jokes started getting worse. They were daily. He would joke about moving to Afghanistan. When i brought up how they rape women, he said he would be mad to see me sucking another guys d**k. He used to pretend to punch me in the face. The one day, out of no where, he grabbed my breast. I laughed it off at first, but then texted him about how i hated he did that when i got home that day. He apologized profusely and he was terrified that i would break up with him. Not in a manipulative way. He was genuinely sorry. So i forgave him and we continued on.

In the last days of our relationship, he would make jokes about sneaking into my room at night while i was asleep and raping me. He would say this daily. I broke up with him after that.

Now here’s where i think i may be wrong.

Technically, I did give him permission to touch me. One day we were talking and he said i could touch him anywhere and i said he could do the same. I feel like i didn’t speak up as often as i should have. But at the same rime i think that after me saying that i dont like him touching me so much, he could’ve asked if i was alright with him squeezing my breast.

We did end up getting back together a few months later, and he would make a lot of jokes about besting me. Then one day he pulled my ear and laughed when i said it hurt.

My friends say he was entirely wrong and a horrible person, but he genuinely is a good person.

So AITAH for breaking up with him when i could have spoken up more than i did?

Edit: this did happen a few months ago and i realized i got a detail wrong.i just remembered that i actually didn’t ask him to stop with sexual comments until around the end of our relationship. i don’t remember if he completely stopped or not. but when i did bring it up he said that he did ion fact notice i was uncomfortable but he kept going. Im sorry i got that wrong it was an accident. Everything else in this post should be true.

Wanting to convert to Catholicism in a Protestant home. Advice needed.

My parents are Protestants who hate Catholicism and so i was also raised Protestant. Lately i’ve been doing my own research and even though i am pretty confident that Catholicism is the most accurate denomination, I am still struggling getting rid of some Protestant belief. I am honestly of scared of praying to the Saints. How do we know if they actually are listening? What if God gets mad at me for it? What if my parents find out? How can i become Catholic even though i live in a Protestant home? and hiw do i know I’m not making a mistake?

Also this is a genuine questionnthats been on my mind. Why would mary tall us the pray to her more thn to God while praying the Rosary? From my understanding thenRosary consist of 50 Hail Marys and 10 Our Fathers. Why not 50 Our Fathers

Protestants - Would it be wrong to pray to Mary or a Saint?

I'm a Protestant and I wanna pray to Mary. How bad would it be?

Edit: yall this wasn't supposed to be a war between Protestants and Catholics.

Edit 2: To the ones saying yes. Would I lose salvation if I did it?
