Networking is hell

I hate networking, especially in the version ive been exposed to.

My experience is rarely "networking" but regular attendees gossiping about the people and companies they saw/didn't see.

Real networking is already exhausting and nearly unbearable because of the fake conversations, sales pitches, name dropping and everything else that comes with it. To top it off with gossip just makes me sick all around.

This client facing account manager job that requires networking and upselling is quickly making me drained even well after work hours. I feel stuck.

I'm curious to know if yall feel the same disgust regarding networking and upselling?

I think we all know that guy who is always still blaming or saying something negative about his ex wife.

Example, I saw a guy post a video of him taking out the trash and literally took the effort to record the whole thing just to say "taking my ex wife out". It's so cringe.

I'm usually of the belief both parties are at fault to some degree, so blaming her seems childish and lacks accountability.

How do the current wives tolerate this?!

Men, I need your feedback!

Met a guy at a festival. Older guy, sent a friend to get my number because he was attracted to me. We've been texting platonically and spoke about 15 mins on the phone once.

He sent me a picture of his new dog in the truck and in the picture I saw medication still in that waxy/white bag medicines they always come in. It was still stapled shut. Being nosey, I looked it up and it appears to be medication for herpes.

We have plans to meet up for dinner next week.

Do I make him aware that I know or is it better just to wait until he tells me, assuming he eventually does? Was he trying to tell me and hoping I'd see it in the picture?

I've also made it a point to learn more about herpes and its effects on folks. I want to know how to best navigate my new found knowledge in the most respectful way possible.
