Question about restlessness and how to channel energy in evening?

Hi all!

Long-time diagnosed here- since around 1998 (35 M for context!). Just recently started to take Ritalin IR 5mg (half of a 10 mg) once a day and it's been amazing for my focus and mostly helpful for emotional regulation. I used to take Ritalin/Adderall of some sort from ages 7 to 14, so it's not my first rodeo. Today, however, I took 10 mg out of curiosity (and laziness at not wanting to cut the pill) and holy shit was I grouchy. It reminded me of how restless I start feeling without an outlet for energy like exercise and something to really focus on/get into flow state with. I was agitated into the evening, couldn't figure out how to spend my time and was just looking for something to focus on. My husband noticed my tone, which I hate and definitely apologized for. Reading helped for a bit but not long-term.

My questions for y'all are:

  1. How do y'all navigate restless energy in the evening if you can't go outside (it was storming all evening- would have easily considered a walk otherwise!)? Do you have walking pads/a balancing ball/some kind of Peleton to get the energy out?

and

  1. Are there other tricks/tips you've learned to zone in and focus/calm the brain down when that agitation/restlessness happens? It's like my brain is begging for dopamine and can't seem to find a way to get it.

Thanks, all!
