Whenever I try to play audio on my laptop, it makes nothing but loud static in the right ear. This is with headphones or out of the built-in speakers. I make music, so this is unacceptable. What the hell is wrong with my laptop?

I'm trying to learn to fry scream and can't get past this crucial step. I don't have a vocal coach. How do I learn?
