Analyst: 66% of console players still prefer physical games over digital

That first article was published before the announcement btw. (editing for clarity: 2018. Meaning, these two studies together indicate we haven't changed our minds very much about physical games in the last 8 years.)

I want to dispel the disinformation that most gamers buy only digital. Most gamers buy both. 85% of games sold being digital isn't the gotcha statistic people prop it up to be.

When Sony made the announcement i had a gut feeling they wouldn't back down and they'd try to push through the bad publicity, because they rule the console market right now and they know it. But, even if Sony doesn't change their mind now, I have no interest in letting them price gouge me and I have no interest in shutting up about it, because not shutting up about it is what made this international news, baby. There's numerous lawsuits now, and all that is because for once, complaining on Reddit/news sites/social media was good for something on a global scale.

Even if physical Playstation discs still die in 2028, the backlash sets a massive precedent for how far consumers are willing to bend. This is a good thing for all gamers, whether they'll admit it or not.

Sony has to report July's revenue at the end of September, so don't shut up yet.

I know it's to make more money but, without the leaks, players would have had only 2 months to save up pulls for the collab. Even with the leaks we got, we had nothing truly confirmed. Luckily I chose to believe them or I might have had to spend money in order to secure 200 pulls for the free lightcone (also later leaked).

But what is perhaps even more frustrating is how they work on these units a year ahead of time and leave us in the dark until just a couple weeks ago. I realize with the collab especially, they needed to be more tight lipped, contracts and all that, but that really doesn't excuse the rest of the game.

Once in a while I remember that I never got around to upgrading everything after I got her E6, I may as well do it now since she's still my most played DPS.
