Any of yall have read Really the Blues?

This isn't a complete jerk but I feel like Mezz Mezzrow's life would resonate with a lot of us here, since he was a jewish-american obssessed with New Orleans jazz and black-american culture (he declared himself a "voluntary negro"). Plus he was a broke musician, selling pot to his fellow artists (which between them were Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet lol) to pass by, got addicted to opium for some time and one of his biggest achievements was to convince some rich french dude (Huges Panissié) into recording some old school jazz with some other broke cats.

I know we got John Coltrane but I feel like this guy spiritually matches what this sub's about lol

How would you feel about a rave with a completely hidden DJ booth?

recently watched a movie called (Sirat) that heavily focused on techno culture. What I absolutely loved about it was that the camera barely focused on the dj at all.

Instead it put the spotlight entirely on the ravers the dancefloor energy and the music.

It got me thinking about how this plays out in real life.

Imagine going to a rave where the DJ booth is completely hidden from view. You know exactly who is playing and what genre to expect but you cant see them at all.

All you can see are the speakers and the lighting design.

How would you feel about that?

Would it be a major turnoff for you?

Do you need that visual connection? watching the DJ mix and read the crowd to fully enjoy a set?

Or do you see it as a positive?

Personally i feel like it could be incredible. Without a stage to stare at the crowd would solely focus on dancing and the music hopefully discouraging people from staring at the booth through their phone screens all night.

I have a synth connected at the input of my DN1 to give it some reverb and integrate it a bit more in the whole mix. In some patterns I have this track at a high volume and its sometimes off cus I'm not using the synth in that pattern.

It's weird because when I start the machine sometimes I have to "remind" the DN of the values it was at moving the knob slightly. I have the theory though that when I've loaded all my patterns once and "reminded" it all, the machine will update the value right when switching patters.

Has any of you guys ever tinkered much with that? Any info I should be aware of? Searched in the manual a bit but I could't quite find anything. Thanks!
