Sad about the Anbennar Compedium

The Anbennar Compedium was shut down by the guy who made it, due to the hate the community gave.Sad, i liked the site, since it was the only place i could read NIs text from without waiting 20 minutes for the game to load

The most fascinating part about Leda's character, is she was right

Now firstly, hear me out, before i get accused of siding with Paranoid-Sabre

There are 2 parts of her character that i wish to talk about, and that i find absolutely fascinating. The way she sees things, and how self aware she is

Firstly, her perspective.Upon meeting for the first time, she is charmed by Kindly Miquella, and automatically assumes you too were guided here by him.The charm surpresses her paranoia and doubt, assuming everyone is a friend on her quest with similar intentions. This, iirc, or i assume was done by Miquella after she slayed the entire Needle Knight Order by herself. But we will get back to that later.

Its really cool that if you talk to her "before the withered hand" , both Ansbach and Freya mention it."You must be the Tarnished" and "Lady Leda spoke of you" respectively. She remembers and speaks to the group about your existance.

Now, after the charm breaks , she goes back to her doubts and paranoia, "But while my devotion to Kindly Miquella remains unchanged, by my troth, I am not so sure about the others. No, wait. Perhaps this is a blessing in disguise. I can wield my sword to cull the undeserving, those unfit to bask in Miquella the Kind’s presence. I should’ve thought of this earlier."

There are 2 people she suspects, and she is inherently right about both, and underestimates the third. The Hornsent , and Sir Ansbach, specifically

She believes that the Hornsent should be eliminated before his "thirst for revenge beckons our undoing".Something, which if you do not intervene, is proven. If he sates his revenge, and you kill Messmer with him via summon, he will betray and invade you in Ruah, consumed by his thirst for vengeance. If not, he will side with Leda, not out of personal belief in Miquella, but to quell and kill all those who serve Marika, and for his clan to be redeemed.

As for Sir Ansbach ? Well he explains it better than i ever could. "Lady Leda. Your suspicions were dead-on. In the end, I could not bury the memories. Of Lord Mohg, and our pact of blood." She believes that he will , just like her "he will recall, as I have, the cascading sheets of blood. I’m afraid he cannot be left to fester…"

Something , that happens as soon as the charm breaks, and he ends up terrified by his "revelation" at first.

Then there is Thiollier, the person she underestimates, not like we do, due to his lack of strenght, but rather, because of "St Trina's love", for she believes he is entirely incapable of betrayal, because Miquella's other half's (St.Trina) boundless love could never turn against Him.She is wrong because St.Trina does all that she asks of you because of her love, for she cannot imagine Miquella suffering like this, caged in divinity. Something, which once again, is understood by Leda in the end "*Thiollier. I seem to have made a poor judgement. About you. Or perhaps, St. Trina."

Now , as for the second point, she is incredibly self aware about herself, that she is a bad person, paranoid, and a killer. "I believe the hornsent suspects what I have in mind. He never placed his full trust in me, even under the effect of Kindly Miquella’s spell. He must’ve recognized something. The scent of the killer that slept within me. The stench of crusted blood." And "I’ve come to a realization… There’s ample evidence… Without Kindly Miquella’s influence… I’m quite mistrustful of others…" She knows her faults, and understands her faults. For all that she fights, when she dies, her only wish in death is : "Kindly Miquella...make the world a gentler place".

For she kills for the purpose of no longer having to in the future.Miquella's Age of Compassion is freedom for her and people like her, who can not control themselves from their thoughts, and wish to be guided and happy, to trust and love like everybody else. The charm, which others would consider a prison, would mean freedom for her, from her treacherous thoughts.

Another thing i wish to mention.Never does she suspect Freyja or Dryleaf Dane.If you kill Freyja by attacking her , she mentions "What has gotten into you...Lady Leda, beware" , signifing worry and respect for Leda.As for Dryleaf Dane, in her very words, he has served Miquella far longer than her.She respects him, even if he never actually spoke with her, and doesnt place suspicion upon him.

And...if you help her both times, against the Hornsent and Ansbach , she talks about you and rewards you with talismans that belonged to her fellow Needle Knights. "You are an odd one, aren’t you. The enchantment is broken, and yet you alone appear completely unchanged. As if nothing was ever cast upon you. … No matter. If you found your way here, it was because Kindly Miquella wished it so. But I am afraid this is our farewell. When next we meet, let it be under the eyes of Miquella the Kind. Good bye, comrade." Never once does she betray you , never once does she invade you, indifferent of whether you help her or not, never once does she hinder you.All she does , is guard the place before the ascension of her God and master, as is the duty she has as a knight. By all means, it is you who betrays her, who stands against her. Even so, she treats you with respect upon your death. "With this battle I send you on. It was an honour to face a worthy lord. Now, go."

None of what i said above makes her a good person.None of it dissproves her paranoia. But my purpose, and the purpose of this wall of text, was to show that she is a complex character, and not a one dimensional villain. To appreciate the writing and complexities of her character , and her flaws. And i hope, for those that read all this, that i might have accomplished that, even if just slightly.

Genuinely breaks my heart

For context, both invasions against Hornsent and Ansbach, on the side of Leda. Fascinating character, even on a 2nd playthrough. I still love just how respectful everyone is to each other in this, true knights. Well besides the hornsent ig

PS : I apologise for the slight hickup/cut at the end, my recording just decided to act against me. Clearly not loyal enough to Miquella

"Blood is, in the literal sense, life" Newshire, and me being conflicted with it

https://preview.redd.it/si5ol9tax6ch1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=34bc1287ec41be9b28b3f0f50e331b09ae4b70c4

Im very conflicted about Newshire. On one hand, it has really good themes and potential, on the other hand, the MT rewards are mercenaries and a few buffs late in the tree. The halfling mil is atrocious, hence why my playthrough took this long (and i didnt have the best position in Escann in 1490 from my fault. But it feels like its not...powerful at all ? Like, sure the production buffs are nice, and plants etc, but rewards are mainly merc companies which sound cool, but arent really that powerful, and i even grabbed merc ideas

Regarding the story, it has great themes, i just wish they were explored more. I wish we saw what Ella spoke about with the Seed , or at least implied. I know apart of the horror of these things is the not knowing , but it felt really anti climactic for the event to just be "yea i talked to it, its chill now". Im a Fromsoft enjoyer so i absolutely am used to unended plot lines or not being given every detail, but it felt very anticlimactic

I dont want this to sound entitled, like i played Blademarches and Rubenaire, im perfectly fine with MTs that just give you claims and +10 prestige per Mission Reward, so i dont have high standards, but i really wish the tag had more of a focus on its narrative. Whats there is great, i assume this was like similar to the system now used for Effelai seedthralls, so this must've been pretty cool when it originally released , it still is, i just wish it was ... a bit more

Also staying Halfling mil sucked so bad lol

Still fun ! Probably gonna do Golden Tremor next in FP

"What is caged, does not fade, it rots" Gasha

"The druids hear what others cannot.Beneath the buzz of insects and the hiss of rain, they listen to the slow grinding of roots in pain. The jungle cannot purge itself, for it has no claws so it speaks to our hearts. What is caged does not fade-it rots. It curdles in the marrow, blackens the breath, seeps from the skin as a sour heat."

"The Curse does not listen, it does not pause for melody , nor yeiled to careful chords"

Let the cleansing blood run hot and bright"

Gasha is lovely. Gasha is right. Who said violence isnt art ? What is it, when its the only means of salvation ?

Amazing themes and a great performable, also the first time i play in Taneyas, lovely !

(also , if you wish to read more of what is above, its taken from Gasha's MT loc, so play it)

"And so they fought, The Hero and the Dragon, at the Edge of the World" Orenvalyam Non-Silverspite

My personal ending events are at the end , so spoilers for those who havent done it yet ! You get unique little parts, depending on your choices !!

Lovely MT, >!loved Silverspite,i adored the Ecaris vs Silverspite moments, it was so hype , his descent into evil is amazing, what happens to Velara, everything is just 10/10!<

Amazing Experience, this and Taychend Empire are musts for any Anbennar player worth his salt

"When foreigners think of the Three Mountains, it is our land that comes to mind" (Insyaa is fun)

Played my first insyaa game.Wanted to show that there is actually a ton of lore, events, formables and stuff. I love the loc for the Endless Ocean , especially the events regarding the Chronicles, how each "Diety" (or local practice) has its own event, after you search out for it. The conflict between Endless Ocean and Volcanic Truth and later Molten Eternity is great too

Regarding Ucha'imauna, the formable, i could have formed it as soon as i united my little island, but i wanted to wait and read all the Kusa' NIs, and honestly i liked the flag
The 3 tags at the start, the 3 mountains are based around the historical unification of the Ryukyuan Kingdom

Technically, Kusa' is the "canon" former of Ucha, since they are the most advanced, according to the original design document, but i only read it after i finished the run lel, so thats lucky. Each of the 3 starting tags, plus the formable have all unique NIs

Regarding the conquest, i could have easily conquered more, but i just wanted to take the eastern side, aka the one with Endless Ocean and Speaking Memory minorities, felt more fitting

But yes, this is a call to action ! Try out Insyaa ! Piss off the Turtles, go on pillar expeditions, read some of the best NIs written yet, and have fun !

(Next im going to Taychend tho, i long to finally play Orenvalyam )

"This is our mountain, our woods. They will sully it no more" - Myna

Played Salla Myna ! Very lovely MT. Ive left the final event in the last picture so those who want to experience the story can do it without knowing the end (so i dont spoil them)

Very cool, loved Bricena Myna, and the union with Elyn.

She is such a good diplomat , totally has no issues at first in coexisting with hawks (/s)

Fun Fact, Cyranvar now has two unique NIs based on which Salla Forms it.The 5th picture shows the first one, in which Bri' is a girlboss and slays as always

The Cyranvar rework cant come soon enough...

Markism is when we step down from power ! - Ravakh, in his book "Understanding Marks"

Lovely path, i fully enjoyed it, this is the ending i got for Ravakh, i am aware there are multiple, and i will come back and get the rest !

u/Eugene1936 — 3 months ago

This....This was fun. I loved the design of the tree, the mini-tree-let unlocking everything, the focus art, thetrio of Masaska, Furasho and Jawharad, with the Great Teacher watching curiously at how they all adapt, Harqaanka ever in the shadows, it was all really cool

This is a commie path done right, im glad EaW keeps evolving in its storytelling especially for commie paths far beyond the "le workers are working" in the last few years

Now that ive done all 3 new tags once, its time i replay something.Maybe .... Chital again. Or i try for my 3rd Wallnut Commie ending. Will see
