the whole “20g fat”requirement

ugh i feel myself continuing to hyperfixate to no end ab this and ive seen mixed responses when searching for answers, so here goes. starting month 4 of clavaris (accutane) 60mg. month 1 was 40mg and its been 60 ever since. weight is 147, height 5’6 (possibly almost 5’7) cumulative dose is between 10200-13400. the only instruction the derm gave was to take it with the biggest meal. the whole acne struggle has been debilitating to say the least n it took years of failed treatments and quite frankly, an altered way of life, to finally get on accutane. safe to say ive done my fair share of research and got in my head about the fat req. i want this to be as effective as possible and it’s def been a saving grace so far. i’ve noticed side effects here n there but i consider them nothing compared to the before, completely tolerable esp compared to other failed treatments that legit impacted me badly health wise. i’m vegan and also allergic to peanuts, walnuts, cashew, pistachios, and avocado. it’s pretty hard to hit that 20g mark. i did overly try to after month 1 and i noticed my triglycerides were WAY raised. still in a safe level and to be clear (don’t lock my post pls!!) YES, this is a known side effect. more so: the worry was that i knew damn well that i’ve damn near been over eating compared to the norm for me in order to hit close to 20g fat. tbh even my biggest meals don’t hit 20g, (MAYYYBE 10 max. even a vegan quesadilla is only apparently 7g of fat from what the ingredients list). it’s actually the smaller meals such as a bagel with vegan butter and tea made with soy milk (aka my breakfast) that have more fat (could be 10-13g). triglycerides aside, the over eating just isn’t feasible. i recently incorporated vegan omega 3 capsules (substitute for fish oil, it’s the version thats algae oil instead) which is 1.5g in fat. i checked with my derm and she was happily surprised to hear that i was aware that fat is important, and from what i understood she said that it doesn’t have to be 20g, it just has to be SOME fat within the meal. truly and bluntly, has anyone else done like 10-13 or 14g rather than the full 20g of fat in their meals, and still found great effectiveness? idk sorry this is wordy but i just want to do my part, it was already a whole process getting started and i def fear not doing the right things and risking relapse.

communications major wanting to transfer to SFSU from community?

communications major here who’s looking into what schools to think of applying for transfer to (fall 2027). originally from the bay and currently in socal, and i’d really love to get out of socal as a whole. just not for me, but all that is for another day. my goals are direct career opportunities (i’m sure that’s us all😭😭) and my strong suits are within writing and articulation. i see myself probably doing something related to public relations and media; things to do with brand imaging and upholding public trust and image of a brand (that’s just an example of a possible career goal). anyways im ngl, the information ive found regarding comms majors at SFSU is practically little to none, and no joke ive been scouring the internet for info for the past 2 months (and i mean EVERYWHERE, even reaching out to people on tiktok, reddit, religiously researching online, ect.) so far i’ve been trying to look into sjsu and sfsu but yeah, that’s where im at so far.

does anyone share my major and have any experience with it at SFSU? is it a good option school wise? any advice/ guidance is much appreciated!

applying to CSU’s instead of UC’s as a comms major transferring from community?

comms major at a community college here. for context, GPA is 3.9 and i’ve finished my “first two years,” however am adding a “third semester” so to speak to take an extra class or two. COMM 212 (for units + relevant to the major), and HIST 110 (i already did HIST 111, and doing 110 would fulfill the comms history requirement i believe). so those two i don’t mind taking as im literally just a few units shy of being done and i otherwise (to my knowledge) fully qualify for CSU’s. i also am debating taking spanish 101 to fulfill the UC language req in case i might want to apply to UC’s.

but in all honestly, i could care less about a UC. ik the major ones within cali (Berkeley, UCLA, ect.) are “best of the best” but idk i just don’t see it. don’t even know if id get in but its not even about not believing id get in. more so i feel like CSU’s might have more career opportunity in terms of my major, whilst UC’s are more focused on prestige and academics. i’m also really stuck because i’d love to get out of socal. ik SDSU for example is a hugely praised option for comms majors (CSU wise) but as someone who went to HS in sd, i truly will not survive in that environment. HS damn near took me out and socal is just a nasty energy, albeit i’m not hating on those who had a good time there. i’d love to go to a norcal school instead but the only ones im aware of are berkeley (which doesnt have a solid “comms” major), UCSF, sfsu and sjsu (both of which ive been religiously researching and have found little to no info on throughout the past 2 months regarding COMMS majors’ experiences). definitely feeling lost and could use some guidance. any fellow comms majors have any school reccs? and does the difference between a UC and CSU truly matter for this major? try to be unbiased bc ik that UC’s are the default but i could use guidance for CSU’s as well.

triglyceride results have me scared ⚠️

im finishing month 2 of accutane. month 1 was 40mg, month 2 is 60mg. i’ve gone thru such a hellhole with acne as well as dismissive derms that it was quite literally moving heaven and earth in order to finally even get on accutane. my big fear is that i’ll suddenly have a bad blood lab work result that’ll make them end my treatment early, cuz accutanes truly been my saving grace. my pre accutane labs showed my triglyceride results were 61. over the past few years, my triglycerides have consistently been between 50s-60s range. ALT is also consistent. now this recent bloodwork for the end of month 2 shows that my triglycerides have SHOT TF UP. triglyceride result is now 141. my ALT is still normal but fuck!! bear in mind i’m vegan and allergic to the main nuts (peanuts cashews pistachios, pretty much everything except for almonds) as well as avocados. admittedly i’ve been maybe eating slightly more carbs than normal to meet the fat reqs for accutane to absorb properly (vegan grill cheeses and vegan butter on bagels, ect.)

are my labs worrisome and does anyone have any advise on what alternatives to do to meet the fat reqs without, yk, completely increasing the fat content in ur body?

sunscreen rebuy

im nearing the end of my first month on 40mg clavaris. routine is pretty chill, i rinse with cold water in AM & use the innisfree spf36 over my vanicream daily facial moisturizer. i’ve previously complained about if i should switch this sunscreen but ill be honest, pre accutane this is the only one that wasn’t overly nasty, congested, heavy feeling on my face. it does have a fragrance tho… but my skin rlly disliked any of the other major sunscreens (noteably the LRP lines and neutrogena). my skin is naturally oily, dehydrated but oily nonetheless, so i cant place blame on the innisfree for that since its the only one that wasn’t awful like the others. since starting accutane it’s not bad, albeit the pill does the heavy lifting. i need to order a new one and debated on if i should stick with this, switch to the mineral spf45 version (second slide), switch to the new spf50 version, or something else? i like how i can just double cleanse with my cerave cleanser and it takes off the sunscreen. i hate heavy overly oily shit and plus i’m melanated, so props to those who don’t get the white cast, but i find it very heavy as well as not being a fan of the ashy tint. any guidance is appreciated! i also considered the vanicream spf30 moisturizer but haven’t heard enough about it to decide on it yet.

40mg a day, face sunscreen reccs?

j started my accutane, 40mg a day i’m prolly on day 5. morning routine rn is cold water to wash my face in morning, hypochlorous spray (ill stop the spray soon since dryness is probably otw), vanicream daily facial moisturizer. for sunscreen i use the innisfree spf36 broad spectrum. pre accutane my face is oily af, dehydrated but oily nonetheless and i look like a greaseball quick af. am still oily as shit with this routine. vanicream by itself tends to not look as greased up tho. my derm said i don’t need to religiously wear spf indoors but ik some ppl in the sub advised its better to wear it even in indirect sun.

for my fellow oily ppl, do u have any sunscreen recs? i particularly wanted to get the vanicream spf moisturizer it’s spf30 and it seemed like a good non congesting product cuz its two in one. has anyone had luck with it?

starting accutane 40mg daily, tell me all i need to know!

just took my first pill td! im vegan so my fatty meal was 2 vegan grill cheeses (also made sure to vegan butter the bread), n popped my pill right after. jesus the packaging is impossible to “push” out in the way the instructions say, i literally dented my capsule but i was able to use scissors to finesse it outta there. will do that instead next time. i also took zertec as the antihistamine and d3 cuz ya girl is deficient, plus it’s meant to also be taken w food too. pausing electrolysis for now, have discontinued tret, and am keeping my routine simple af. washing face w cold water during daytime, pat dry, hypochlorous spray, then vanicream daily face moisturizer. trying the cerave cream to foam hydrating cleanser at night and then same routine. (i do wear sunscreen but now im limiting it to only when im going outdoors, cuz i talked to my derm n i feel like it could’ve been unhelpful to my acne thus far since i wore it even in indirect sunlight indoors (innisfree sunscreen). i do take iron supplements and magnesium glycinate, and im mainly rlly scared for the purge. tell me everything i need to know! i’ve tried all longterm treatments (epiduo .1%, clindamycin.1%, tretinoin all strengths including the gel .1%, spiro at both 50 & 100mg, panoxyl, glycolic acid, azalaic acid, ect.) and im rlly just over it atp, ive done all i can do. im prone to looking like a grease all in the face regardless of what i have on. any advice or helpful info is much appreciated! i dont think accutane is vegan cuz the shell is gelatin but atp its inevitable.

accutane and surgery

for any type of typical outpatient surgery, has anyone had experience getting work done whilst on accutane? to keep it very brief i have a surgery planned which is on my private areas, and that’s all im saying in regards to that bc these posts sometimes attract the wrong commenters PMing u (if yk, yk). i just got prescribed accutane 40mg thank god, but it was in the back of my mind if i should be concerned. granted, my derm asked prior if i have any upcoming surgeries, and i mentioned the procedure i have coming up. she didn’t tell me to not get it which was reassuring, she just said that she wanted to know what bc some surgeries are affected by accutane. throwback to when i got my BA, i thought i would be on accutane at the time and asked my surgeon. he said it shouldn’t be a problem. now that im actually gonna start taking it, is it a concern? given the area in which the surgery is happening, part of me feels like its not even worth mentioning since my derm was fine w it. another paranoid part of me is stressing that they’ll cancel my surgery or something. for ppl who’ve been on accutane and have gotten work done , pls lmk!!?

Breast aug. Asymmetry Concerns⚠️?

am i tweaking or???! (context: 525ccs natrelle inspira extra high profile silicone UTM) genuinely need input on this as i’m not trying to seem like a perfectionist freak but at the same time this is literally driving me crazy. i’m almost 4 MPO and ive been noticing this weird asymmetry for the past month ish. kinda like one of them looks more “booby” , bigger and shapely, vs the other one which looks visibly smaller and maybe higher (…?) but the contour of the smaller one is “softer looking” it doesn’t look booby. to be clear i like the contour of the bigger looking “booby” boob. hopefully i explained this properly. in some of these photos it looks more or less obvious depending on the angle and im literally so beyond annoyed by it. like is that normal or is there any way to address it? added note is that at the 3+ month mark i noticed some discomfort from potential over massaging (was tryna follow surgeon guidance) and after checking in ive ceased massages. i’m pretty minimal with them (depending on the days that asymmetry is especially noticeable) but i mean they’re dropped enough, so i only do it on occasion. i was RELIGIOUS with it before this. a bit bummed about size, lack of upper pole fullness, and whatnot (maybe j the ole boob greed) but i’m genuinely tweaking over the asymmetry. i did bring it up w surgeon cuz i j wanted to rule out even a slight possibility of cc and he wasn’t feeling the fact that i mentioned asymmetry. he said they’re the same sized implants and maybe one is swollen or something. idk. feedback preferably form girls who’ve been in the same boat? ideally i’d hope that the “smaller” less booby and lacking shape boob is just a slow dropper? i can’t tell if THATS the boob that’s more dropped or not tho. the bigger boob looks so much better and the shape is what’s ideal but the smaller is ever so slightly softer. which makes me feel kinda hopeless that the smaller one is gonna improve in appearance.
