for all the people saying Kylan is so “different” from Izzy and Tonya

The AI photos of Tierra are anti-black and more specifically anti-black women.

Now before you guys start yelling at me, let me start by saying this is not a post defending Tierra’s actions last episode. I think she handled the situation poorly, and what she said to Trinity and the other girls was wrong and inappropriate.

That being said, editing Tierra to be hyper masculine with huge muscles just because she defended KC (despite being wrong) is disgusting. Every single time this happens, the same stereotype gets reinforced. A black woman raises her voice, is outspoken, or defends someone, and suddenly she’s portrayed as masculine or “the man” in the relationship.

You don’t have to like Tierra to recognize that. Criticizing her behavior is completely fair. Turning her into a caricature based on racist and sexist stereotypes is not. I also don’t see people making AI edits of Parmida as a masculine man for standing up for Corbin, or doing the same thing to other women on the show when they’re outspoken. This treatment is almost always directed at black women, and that’s not a coincidence at all.

Black women have been masculinized for generations, and these edits play right into that whether people want to admit it or not. You can think Tierra was wrong, annoying, dramatic, or out of line. That’s all fair game, I think the same. But making AI images that exaggerate masculine features because she’s black flat out invalidates any point you’re making . There are plenty of ways to criticize her without resorting to racist and misogynistic stereotypes.
