From Vox Machina Origins, Vol. 3!

Harsh!

I have never seen this before. Losing the occasional subscriber is a normal thing, though with small YouTubers it still can sting a little bit. How can you enjoy having 90 subscribers after the lofty heights of 91?

Still, this subscriber took one look at my latest video and noped right out of there.

Didn't think it was that bad...

A Belated Father's Day!

Even though I'm on hiatus for collecting, it doesn't mean the end to receiving books. I actually have a large inventory of books set aside for my wife to give to me as future presents. I get a belated Father's Day because it conflicted with my daughter's birthday.

So I got the Golden Age Captain America Marvel Masterworks vol. 5, and the Atlas Era Tales to Astonish Marvel Masterworks, vol. 4 (which is the the volume that completes that collection.)

In addition, I got the Vox Machina Origins, vol. 3, which I picked up recently from Indigo and decided to throw on my presents pile. 😃

What was I going to do? Not buy it?

The second I saw this was going to be published, I knew I had to have this, eventhough at that moment I had already decided to suspend my comic collecting.

I picked this up at my local Indigo store on Friday, perused it, and it looks every bit a gorgeous as I thought it would be. As soon as I'm done reading vol. 3 of the Doctor Strange Epic Collection, I'm reading this.

I'm not really an X-Men fan, but I'm a huge John Byrne fan, and I know I going to love this!

What's the plan here fish-face? You're going to take this badly injured girl and go live happily ever after underwater making baby Namor's?

From Marvel Mystery Comics #2!

Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos Annual #4!

My last issue before I go on comic book collecting hiatus, and it's a real good one to end on. It's a surprisingly dark and gritty story with amazing art by Dick Ayers and John Severin. The story sends the Howlers into the Battle of the Bulge and specifically the defence of St. Vith. I would rate it as the best story I've read in the series.

My Last Haul!

...at least until I've saved up money again, but at least I'm going out with a bang!

I'm picked up Patsy Walker #115 and Patsy and Hedy #95 because this was when it switched from teen humour to romance drama. It also brought her into Marvel Canon. This is essentially Hellcat's backstory. 115 deals with Buzz joining the army and the fallout from that decision, while 95, despite be published afterwards actually takes place before 115, so it's a little lower stakes. It also has a beautiful Al Hartley cover.

Millie The Model also did the same with her two books but it had no lasting impact.

The Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos Annual #4 is probably the best Sgt. Fury story I've ever read. It dealt with the Battle of the Bulge and specifically the defence of St. Vith. It was very dark and gritty for that series with brilliant art by Dick Ayers and John Severin.

One Last Book Before Going On Collecting Hiatus!

Yep, winding down my collecting until I can save some money, though I will probably still keep collecting the Fantagraphics Atlas books.

Anyway, my final book is The Defenders Marvel Masterworks vol. 2, which I picked up on eBay. It's a collection that features the Avengers/Defenders War and introduces the Marvel Universe version of Nighthawk. So a pretty good book leave off on...

I have to pause my collecting inorder to save some money, so here's my third to last book before I go cold turkey.

There were nine issues in the Red Wolf series, but this would be the last featuring the Old West version of the character. It was also a short story, only 14 pages and there was an back-up feature reprint from an obscure Atlas western comic called Western Outlaws And Sheriffs #70 from 1951.

I have two more comics in the mail I'm waiting on, one of which is an obscure key issue that I think that most Marvel fans would never consider.
