The TCL P80 Ultra does NOT have stylus support

PSA: For anyone considering the P80 Ultra, there a several mislabelled spec sheets floating around including GSMArena and Google search results and snippet attributed to TCL.

The device does NOT have stylus support at all.

Furthermore, it’s a decidedly mid device despite the price tag.

I’ve used both the pro and ultra now. They’re… fine. Wait for discounts though, not worth it at RRP

LG ultrafine 32U990A panel lottery

Hi all. Took delivery of my LG 32U990A 32” 6K today and seem to have lost the panel lottery- right hand side and bottom right corner especially are quite blue and some vertical banding the panel.

Almost all of it manageable if I’m not looking at a plain white image, but the bottom right corner is really noticeable even just in every day use. like, you look at whatever is in that corner and go “oh that’s app is blue”

I’m just trying to gauge if anyone’s got one of these and not really got the blue colour shift? I have an opportunity to try and get a replacement rather than a refund. Just wondering how often I try and play the panel lottery game!

Reader case options

My Viwoods AI Paper Reader is arriving next week and I’m keen to get an up to date view of Viwoods case options if anyone has any suggestions!

  1. Included Viwoods rear case. Could work, but apparently hard to remove

  2. Clear plastic Viwoods case

  3. Weekind style case for Viwoods by DFTechnoloft on Etsy. Does anyone have an honest review of it? the Design sort of makes it right hand only. Not sure about durability.

anything else?

id I’ve a simple bumper. May even cut a larger dbrand skin down to size just to get the rear grip a bit more solid and then attach a stick on magnetic ring for pop grip /magsafe accessories. Pity no wireless charging on it!

5k Mac mirroring?

Has anyone been able to test the 5k MAC mirroring yet? I was about to pull the trigger on a KVM but if Continuity + wireless mirroring works, this would be one of the best QoL additions to MacOS!

Best color reader and workflow for scanned PDF

Hi eink community. Hoping someone has solved similar scenario.

We’ve got a mountain of physical books, academic papers, textbooks and kids books that I’ve started scanning and filing for portability.

Anything too image heavy in the above - especially the KIDS BOOKS (!) - take forever to page load on Scribe colorsoft.

iPad is fine for a lot stuff but not evening kids books if we’re away from home, and I’d much prefer to read eink as well.

I’ve tried a few different optimisation tactics for PDF creation but was wondering if anyone had a tried and tested eink Reader + PDF workflow (app, settings) to get things working well for image heavy books/docs?

New(ish) dad still unable to get back into ‘heavy’ books

Dad of a 3.5 year old. I used to read a couple of books a week, all genres but skewed literary fiction, sci fi, alternate history, and usually had a thriller in the go. very rarely non-fiction (fortunately get heaps of time to learn on the job).

Ever since becoming a dad I’ve been unable/unwilling to read anything too ‘heavy’. at first I thought it just new parent fatigue, then a late ADHD diagnosis. But recently have accepted that it‘s actually more a mix of emotional exertion, gratification and fear. it’s like there’s nothing left in the tank at night and even if there is, the idea of harm coming to a character I’m invested in is just way too intense.

But I MISS it. I miss the nuance, the emotional depth, even transformative nature of my favourite books. I’m a bit sick of my pile of ‘safe pulp’.

So I’m looking for recommendations for books that are generally excellent, emotionally engaging but that I can go into knowing I’m not going to be an emotional wreck by the end lol probably still needs be a bit more plot driven, and I’m definitely open to re-reading if a recommendation reminds me to!
