Me after selling a Yiddish poster to a baroness and a member of the House of Lords. I guess the English like tea as much as we, Russian Jews, do. The text on the poster says:
צאָרעס נעמען נישט אַוועק אַ גלעזל טײ
Tsores nemen nisht avek a glezl tey.
Troubles don’t take away your cup of tea.
After the long wait and international shipping, this arrived in the mail from the States. Perfect condition. Thank you, eBay!
Dear Everyone, my mother passed away last Sunday in Russia. Unfortunately, I am far away, in another county, and couldn’t travel. She was Jewish. We have no other Jewish relatives.
I’d greatly appreciate it if you could remember Lyudmila bat Dorianna in your prayers.
Also, and sorry I’m putting it all in the same post, I live with my five children in a place where the nearest Jewish community is 300 miles away. I wasn’t raised religious but I’m slowly finding my way back. So I a guess I’ll be posting questions here.
Thank you for reading and Shabbat Shalom!
Procreate Pocket on an iPhone 11, finger drawing, no pencil.
These are the first two posters. More to come.
Hvala unapred!
Hello everyone.
My 11-y.o. asked me a question I can't answer. He's very much into astronomy and now he's reading about dark energy and dark matter. He asked me five minutes ago - how is that connected to Mashiach? Because supposedly, there will be another Big Bang.
More from him: If Mashiach means all souls gathered back and a perfected world, how can the universe also have dark matter, dark energy, and a possible future Big Bang or collapse?
In other words: can there be “perfect wholeness” and “cosmic instability” at the same time?
Thoughts on how to approach this question are appreciated.
Edit to address an issue: BookBildr is not an AI generator and most of our users do not use AI. They have their own stories, often use stock graphics we offer, upload their own images, or hire an illustrator (like the books in the photos). We do offer AI as one of the tools for those who want it. But it’s not the main thing.
Hello Everyone,
I wanted to introduce my business, bookbildr.com. I created it when I wanted to make a book for my toddler but couldn't find an easy way to do it and get a professional printed product without hiring an illustrator, someone to do the layout, or dealing with bleed, cover spreads, etc. So, basically, you can simply create and illustrate a book in your browser, in our editing tool, and then order printed copies. We print in the USA, the EU, the UK and Australia. There are no subscription fees - people only pay for printing and shipping.
I also started offering services for authors, as demand grew, and now BookBildr is a small publisher. I work with some wonderful illustrators, we do layout, formatting, editing, ghostwriting - you name it.
I've included a screenshot of the website and some photos of authors holding their books.
If BookBildr is something that might be useful to you, I'll be glad to help and answer questions.
Something different and darker than my usual paintings and Yiddish grit posters. These are illustrations to my poems. Done in Procreate Pocket on iPhone 11 with my finger. No stylus.
Shalom all, I’m a beginner learner and I’m looking for reading practice. Any recommendations? TIA.
My latest poster from the Yiddish Grit series. Done in Affinity on a MacBook Pro.
Very simple and foolproof recipe:
5 cups of flour
Add 1.5 teaspoons of dry yeast
Add 2 tablespoons sugar
Add a bit of salt
Mix it all with a fork
Add 1 egg
Add 5 tablespoons of sunflower oil
Add 1.5-almost 2 cups of water (depends on your flour)
Make the dough
The rest is as usual.
These quantities make either one larger challah or two smaller ones like here.
Hi all, I wanted to share some of my paintings. They’re inspired by the Torah (Marah spring, Purim), and shtetl.
