I wanted to freshen up this puppy so I put on Shell Cordovan straps that match the hands and sub-dials. Such an underrated piece

On the last day of my trip to San Francisco I decided to do a little bit of shopping around Union Square. There’s a Patek Philippe boutique that I’d never seen before so I decided to pop in and try on a few pieces. Surprisingly it seemed like the SA was more interested in my watch than the other way around. I guess H Moser is becoming more and more mainstream which is well deserved.

Getting ready for a trip overseas and more often than not this is a watch that accompanies me when I need a GMT in my watch roll.

What’s different from most watches with a Dual Time function is that it “hides” the second hour hand when not in use. The only other watch that I know of with a similar
complication is the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda
GMT Rattrapante. This particular reference has the solid gold Breguet numerals and blue sapphire cabochon on the crown and pushers as well (ref 4864j).

Apparently since it shares the exact same caliber as the larger 5034, it was very difficult to fit the movement into the smaller case so Patek produced very few of these.

I love staring at all the little details on this watch. From the day\month windows to the appliqué gold Roman hour indices and the little moon at the end of the date hand. It’s crafted so elegantly and yet so simple.

The moon phase in yellow gold reflects so nicely when the sun hits it as well as the stars. And the little face is so cute and always looks like it’s smiling back.

From the guilloche dial to the pomme hands to the intricate case build and the bracelet, this 1st Gen Marine always feels solid on my wrist. The Art Deco design is the cherry on top.
