Well, just did the deal. Will be proud owner of a 1987 300SDL. Gold with chestnut leather. Excited. Scared whether I’ve done the right thing. Seller is finishing off a few jobs. Hopefully sorted in a week or so. I guess I’ll be following this Reddit more closely now. Hi everybody.
I’m trying to decide if a w126 would make a good daily driver. My commute is mainly short drives under 5km each way. Some longer trips of course but not regularly. Currently I have an older Range Rover and I’ve come across a very nice 1987 300SDL. I’m quite tempted. It drives nicely. It’s eligible for classic insurance. There is a little bit of rust to see to, but it’s a solid car and probably more reliable than the RR. Thoughts and advice? I’ve never owned a diesel before.
I flew my Mini Pro 4 this afternoon. I wasn’t in a built up area with any tall buildings or hills. Drone was reporting full signal when it suddenly lost contact. Picture went b&w, rc2 said it was trying to reconnect, then that the drone was entering automatic RTH. Picture then returned and I saw the drone taking the green cone path home. I took over when it was 20’ from landing. Everything was normal. No issues on next flight. Why suddenly drop signal? Why go from 5 bars to LOS? Previously, have made sure to reign in the drone if signal ever dropped to 4 bars. Any insights?
I put together a really nice home theatre system using used B&W from marketplace. I have a 5.3.4 using 601s3 for L and R, a LCR for centre, and 603s for LR and RR. Also have 2 500asw subs. Height are 4 KEF eggs and a KEF round subwoofer for sub #3. Room is 25x15 feet. It sounds great. Today I picked up a B&W CM centre at a good price and it’s a great replacement for the LCR.
My question:
The seller also has a pair of B&W cm8s for sale. Is that really a meaningful upgrade? I’m pretty happy with things the way they are. And what do I do with the 601s? I could make them LR and RR? It it really worth the upgrade? It’s a good bit more money. Obviously the cm8s are better, but meaningfully better? Am I actually going to notice this better?

Unfortunately, my Adventure 2 had a nasty mishap today. I guess it could have been worse. Anyway, it landed HARD on the left side of the handlebar. I’ll need a new grip for the end. But the bar is now slightly bent. I didn’t notice anything while riding (everything works), but the left side is now higher than the right (1-2 inches) and bent rear wards a little. It’s not bothering me.
Bonus question: also need to replace the seat. Any recommendations? Any nice upgrades that aren’t too expensive?
