Roland td316 or td513. Which is best for me?

Hi folks beginner looking for advice on kits. I haven't played drums in 18 years but I took some lessons during my school years. I owned a sonar acoustic kit but I was forced to sell it during my college years due to space and noise complaints.

I am looking at the roland td 316 and td 513 kits. The 316 is more in the price range that I would like to spend but i dont mind paying for the 513 if its a significant difference. I am a beginner at best and want the kit to learn and play by myself at home as a hobby, possibility that my son will learn on it when hes a bit older.

I was looking into alesis nitro ultra xl but ive seen complaints about it and alot of recommendations for the roland kits. Td 316 and 513 are the 2 that I have narrowed it down to but im unsure. I'm not buying the kit until closer to Christmas just doing research at the moment.

Current setup.

My living room board for a while now. I plan to add a switcher and split it in 2 at some stage.

I've zip tied my wireless receiver to my polytune to stop my in-house sound engineer from removing it. I've giving up trying to protect my settings, covering it with a blanket no longer works so every time I turn it on is a surprise.

Blank spot usually holds an mxr tremolo but my sound engineer removed it because it wasnt stuck down yet.

Anyone know what wolfgang van halen (mammoth) uses on his current board?

Apologies for bad images I've been looking for a while and these are the best images I can find online.

I was supposed to see them June 12 in belfast but the gig got rescheduled because of the riots. I have tickets for their December 15 gig in dublin but its a while to wait to see the board for myself.

I can see a evh wah, evh flanger, evh phaser 90, mxr tap, evh footswitch, digitech whammy, boss dd3, eqd afterneath. I cant make out the black pedals beside the evh phaser and evh flanger i think one is a tuner but hard to tell from live video angles.. Has anyone seen this board in person?

3 week itinerary

We're currently in our planning phase. We are a non drinking couple in our 30's. We will be travelling with our son who will be 17 months old by the time we travel. Our plan is 3 nights in bangkok (silom area), 3 nights in khao sok (khlong sok village), 11 nights in koh samui (chaweng area) and finish off with 2 nights in bangkok (maybe riverside area).

Any reason to choose somewhere else to stay in bangkok or go with riverside? also is 11 nights in koh samui too much not sure wether we should do day trips to the other islands or stay a night or 2 to break up the time in koh samui.

We're going late September, we have picked rainy season on purpose hoping its cooler since we have our son with us. We've been to Malaysia during rainy season which we found fine and coming from Ireland it wasnt as bad as what we're used to. Open to suggestions or tips.

We've already travelled to Greece, Japan, France, and Morocco since having our son and out of all our flights we have only had one bad experience which was coming home from santorini. We take him everywhere at home and don't tiptoe around him so he sleeps through noise and is used to crowds so we're not worried about him. (Throwing this in before the "don't take your baby" comments start he is well travelled).

Food options.

Heading to Belfast for a concert at the limelight in 2 weeks. Anyone got any food recommendations worth trying.

Looking for a sit in pizza or chicken place but open to other options.

My attempt

Used ciabatta so probably not traditional but it was the only bread I could find that would do. No sub style rolls in my small Irish town.

Tree possibly dead

My mother has a plum tree in the garden that hasn't grown any leaves or fruit in a while. Not sure how long but they have bought a new one to replace it so im assuming during the winter at some stage. Is there anything I should look out for or do before I cut it down.

My plan is to cut it up into small chunks and store in the shed for a year before I use it. Is there anything to look out for to avoid poisoning myself.

Walrus julianna or something else?

My wife asked what I want for my birthday, I originally said a walrus julianna but im interested to hear any other chorus recommendations.

I have an evh 5150 chorus but I find the lack of rate knob limiting. I have watched some reviews on the julianna that has me interested in getting one but I'd like to check other options before committing.

Finished my bbq shelter.

Not sure what im putting on the right side so I'm just going to use my small fold out table until I decide.

Might put some shelves up next week for bits like my gloves and spices so I can keep the table free.

Apple wood

I've been buying weber apple wood bags which are about 1.5kg. I found these online from surefire wood 30kg for the same price as 3 4.5kg from weber.

Can anyone see any reason not to switch to this wood instead?

I'm looking into freeing up space in the shed, im currently building a bbq shelter so my 2 bbqs will be staying under that for the foreseeable. I am considering making some form of storage box to hold my bags of charcoal, wood chunks, chimney starter, grates etc.

I dont want my stuff to rust so has anyone got any suggestions for making a box waterproof? Im assuming its going to be just as good in a wooden box outside as it is in the shed.

I plan to finish the wood work today and the roof next week at some stage. The finished structure will be 6 inches or so from the wall with floplast mini gutter on the back, currently waiting for guttering and a joining strip for my roof to get delivered.
