Is it normal for people ti put their trash in your trash cans?

Hi all, visiting from London for a week staying in an Airbnb. I’ve noticed quite a few people walking by will dump their trash in our trash cans.. is this normal in Hoboken / NJ / US? Or are they just aware that it’s an Airbnb?
I can’t say it never happens in the UK but it would be done a lot more subtly and there’d definitely be strong words exchanged if the perpetrator got caught

IT / Tech people - how would you reskill to break into HENRY?

29M, London, BSc Information Technology, ITIL, Security+

I began my career the usual way on a service desk, worked various roles including customer success, service management and delivery management. Went from private to public sector. Currently managing physical IT infrastructure but by no means an engineer.

It feels as if traditional IT infrastructure is dead especially if you’re not an infrastructure / network engineer. Im wanting to reskill (I regret not getting into development or a more hands on technical role earlier). There seems to be way more roles that require programming knowledge these days, especially higher paid ones. Is this my sign to dedicate my evenings learning python or another language? Anyone else been in this position? I have a somewhat “safe” job and I like the wider impact of my work in the public sector, but I’m worried I’m not growing..

TIA

Previous UK public sector / defence IT workers - what are you doing now?

As the title says, specifically those who have worked the non-technical IT roles in the above sectors, ie managing network upgrades, refreshes etc - what are you doing now? Seems like a dying industry and I feel stuck!

Toilet flush button snapped off - built into a wooden box, can’t find any way to access behind it. Help ID’ing part + how it’s even meant to work?

Bit of an odd one. It’s a dual flush button, and the rim and small button have been falling out for a while now, and this morning the small button actually fell into the toilet as I flushed.

The whole thing is boxed in (looks like it’s built into a wooden panel), so there’s no cistern lid to lift like a normal toilet - I think it’s a concealed cistern setup. I’ve had a good look for a hatch or access panel anywhere around the box and can’t find one at all, front, sides, or top

I ended up twisting the rest of it out to have a look, and it looks like a single threaded shaft design (photos attached) rather than two separate rods/cables for the dual flush. No brand markings I can find anywhere on it. The hole itself measures about 7cm across.

Couple of questions if anyone can help:
1. Any idea what this actually is / who makes it, from the photos? Trying to find an exact replacement rather than guess.
2. I found what looks like a similar part on Screwfix (screenshot attached) - does that look like a match to anyone who knows these better than me?
3. If it threads through like this, how does it usually get held in place from behind? Does it need a nut tightened on the back, or are some of these designed to just clip/expand in from the front only (since clearly some installs don’t have easy rear access)?
4. If it does need something tightened from the back and there’s genuinely no way to get behind the panel, what’s the actual fix here? Cut an access hatch myself, or is this a job where someone would need to reach it blind through the existing hole somehow?

Not totally hopeless with DIY but this one’s got me stumped since I can’t see what I’m dealing with behind the panel. Appreciate any pointers.

Hey all, I drive a Honda civic 2010 (UK / Euro type)

I replaced the original head unit with a CarPlay one, and upgraded the speakers and tweeters. At this point, every time I restarted my engine, the head unit would come back on quickly.

The speakers were too powerful for the cheap android headunit so the audio quality was crap. I installed a small amp which helped the sound quality, however, every time I restart my engine the headunit boots up from scratch. Not the end of the world but slight annoyance.

Any recommendations on how I can fix this?

TIA
