do ecs really matter a lot?

im applying for the 27 batch. okay so I've had a couple shitty past few years for various reasons and my ecs are basically non existent. I was part of this youth organisation with pretty good impact for quite some time and I've attented like 2 muns and gotten an honourable mention in one (afaik muns are useless unless you've done a lot and atleast won bd right?). aside from that I've done a bit of volunteering in school events, been apart of them and all. my school barely has any opportunities to do anything.

my grades are nothing great either 😭 id say they're average to above average. so do i even have a chance? and im applying for eco as well. is there anything I can do to help my application? any ecs you guys would recommend that I would be able to do rn?

hootie frutti genuinely makes me feel like im dreaming

cuz ain't no way bro. you got some EXTREMELY talented people are you produce this slop?? like. gnarly was fine. I feel like every group has some stupid ahh fun song which you hate but love. then came internet girl and pinky up like bro???

and then came Animal. yeah, it's not groundbreaking but it's still amazing. gave me back some hope like yesss this is the group I love.

and then u slap me with hootie frutti. I'm not even gonna call ts "fun" music because it's really just boring terrible slop music. they're trying to recreate the gnarly moment but it isn't working. like I'm being so fr rn. 10 seconds into the mv and it's like ????? and the thing is, I honestly don't hate these songs... like id dance to it. the reason I'm sad and hate this is because they're SO TALENTED. like even in all these horrible songs u get the few seconds of their heavenly vocals till ur ears get assaulted again. why are we wasting such amazing talent on these tung tung sahur songs.

yeah id take a mental health break too. like yoonchae turned 18 and they went from touch💞🌸 to TOUCH🍑. I feel like hxg is trying so hard to push this "cunty music" but they're doing it horribly. also I don't get who their target audience is anymore??? literally who over the age of 12 would genuinely listen to this music but it's also so sexualised that it feels like it's for adults? anyways whatever thanks for reading my rant ur opinions are welcome feel free to flame me (and their music)

my lukewarm ass takes

  1. some (some≠all) idols actually want lesser lines in a song. it can be for many reasons like for example, they may not be completely confident with their voice, they may feel the song isn't completely suited for their voice, etc. you should definitely talk about it if it keeps happening but if it happens once or twice... move on

  2. every single idol has shit on their fans. to a certain degree at least. and the "fans" im talking about are the ones breaking their backs arguing and shitting on other groups on twitter and reddit. with the way some of these fandoms act, I'd shit on them too. so before you sacrifice your very important exam to argue with a stranger on the internet, the idol you're about to defend is probably wishing you stfu

  3. most idols are very not talented when it comes to vocals and/or rap. every now and then I'll see some idol getting a ton of hate for being "untalented" like honey.. barely anyone in this industry is even an average vocalist. there's definitely many idols who are extremely talented in vocals and/or rap but seeing a below average vocalist being praised for their supposed amazing vocals is definitely something. I don't even blame the idols. on one hand, their companies quite frankly don't care and also debut them before their voices are developed and go on to strain their voice. on the other hand, their fans don't gaf and will eat up the bare minimum

  4. (sorry I kinda explained this one horribly) this might be really controversial and tbh, I'm not completely knowledgeable in this so I'm completely open to your thoughts and learning new things. a lot of the times when k-pop idols get cancelled, it's for a very "western reason." sorry lmfao I didn't know how else to title this, but let me explain. sometimes I see some idols getting cancelled for some very horrible thing and everyone's like "they definitely knew what this meant, we all learnt it in school" or whatever. and I'm like no? first time hearing about this for me. and it just gets me thinking, there's a high chance the idol didn't know what it was either. y'all think everyone knows what it is, but I promise you everyone doesn't, unless you're western (including western idols). y'all seem to forget that no, everyone does not know what happened in the history of your country and neither do they see the same things on the internet to know that it is wrong. there are definitely some idols who knew what they were doing but sometimes I'll see an idol getting cancelled for something that was taught in your american history class in a very american school and like.. idk man. like let's also not forget that their society is very conservative and they may not know that it's actually wrong and might think of it as normal. but I completely get being offended by it, that's understandable. and once the idol is been made aware of it, they should definitely not repeat it

  5. most k-pop fans are heavily misogynistic. there's not much to explain here. there's a reason why y'all went batshit crazy when wonyoung ate a strawberry with two hands. "but it's so cringe!" scroll. literally just scroll. last I checked, nobody was holding a gun to your head forcing you to hate on her, or any idol you find cringe.

  6. most (most≠all) people do NOT care when an idol does wrong. and I'm also talking about the ones hating on the idol. some of y'all will hate on them not because you find what they did wrong, but because it gives you a reason to hate on them freely and to hate their fandom. I said what I said.

Why is NEXZ so underappreciated? they're genuinely so good

I didn't even know they existed till I saw them on the game caterers. they seemed really cool, their dance especially caught my eye so naturally I went to check them out. they're so good?? like their dance is insane, definitely the best in the 5th gen, love their rapping as well. their songs are good, performances are good, and they seem like pretty likeable people

so why are they so unknown and underappreciated? 😭 like they're under jyp so I imagined theyd be a little more well known but apparently not. they debuted like 2 years back and it just sucks that theyre not as well known as some other groups, especially since theyre just so talented, definitely one of the most talented 5th gen groups. like hyui's rapping skills?? literally everyone's dance skills?? straight from heaven. so does jyp just suck at promoting them or?

I genuinely love mmchk and I'm checking out some of their other music as well and genuinely all their songs so far slap. wish they were a bit more well known :(

the hate wonyoung gets is actually crazy

I'm not really an IVE or wonyoung fan in particular but ofc, I've seen a fairly decent share of reels where the members and wonyoung particularly are targeted, like everyone probably has. I've never been dumb enough to actually blindly believe whatever narrative some people wanna push about her with exaggerated videos with random ass captions and a shit ton of zoom ins. this has been going on since their debut and quite frankly, I just wanna say, some of y'all would definitely easily fall for any propaganda you see

anyways, remember that video where "wonyoung was speeding and was in front of everyone and was trying to outshine them and get more attention" or whatever tf it was, I've lost track of what selfish act she apparently keeps doing but you probably know what video I'm talking about. I had only ever seen that video with edits made so that you could clearly hate on her a bit, but recently I saw an unedited video and dude.... it's actually funny how normal it looked. like there's not one instance I went "oh she wants attention" or whatever, like it literally looks like a normal group of girls walking

this made me realise that you could quite literally take any video of absolutely any idol doing absolutely anything and with a bit of editing make them look evil and people would absolutely eat it up. like that woman could breathe wrong and you'll see a thousand close-ups of her face and how she's the meanest human alive. oh who am I kidding? she could breathe exceptionally well and it would still happen. it's genuinely concerning how devoted some people are to tarnishing her name or whatever. some videos people take of her could genuinely never be interpretated as her being a horrible person unless you in your head are adamant she is one

maybe it's just a bunch of 12 year olds going through their mandatory phase of hating successful and beautiful women but why does this only happen to women? like the "IT girls" get absolutely dragged no matter what they do but a male k-pop idol could commit a sexual crime and he'd still have fans. like are we okay. I mean, this is an issue everywhere, not just in k-pop. genuinely, everytime somebody engages in hating on people like jennie or wonyoung or literally most women in this industry for irrelevant things (specifically irrelevant things, I know some people have valid reasons to not like jennie), they're just participating in misogynistic culture

also the entire narrative of "ive are definitely just coworkers, not friends" is genuinely so exhausting. maybe they are, maybe they aren't. why do we care. I'm sure many k-pop groups consist of just coworkers but the emphasis put on ive is just excessive. and the entire "wonyoung and friends" thing is also so ???? like why are we hating on her because she's too popular or because their company sucks at treating them equally (at the start at least)?

stray kids' songs are getting boring

take a good look at the flair. this is an opinion. it's not universal and you don't need to agree with it. matter of fact, if you highly disagree with what I have to say and decide to absolutely loathe me for it, then you have the option of scrolling and ignoring this post. this is an opinion as a long time fan and if you can't handle it, then don't. your opinions are welcome but your attacks aren't.

this is mainly for their title tracks. I've been a fan since about 2020 and I've always loved their music but their last few title tracks have just not hit it for me. their discography is very diverse and I've always had a few songs that didn't hit the mark for me but recently it feels like every single song is either not it or it's just meh. I absolutely loved run it and I was reallyyyy excited for this & that but it was so disappointing (OPINION). like I don't really know how to explain it but it feels like they just put whatever lyric they could think of in a song (not all the lyrics) and like, I feel like it could've been so much better. the entire album was like a 6/10, i pretty much liked half and think the other half is very okay, nothing great.

their music mainly started going downhill for me since walkin' on water. I feel like their music downgraded? (OPINION) like especially the english lyrics, they're so ??? half the time. Nearly every song of theirs then always has some part which is just extremely weird and it just leaves me wondering why it's even there (OPINION)

and sometimes it feels like a production of a song was extremely rushed because it just is so random and not in a good way (OPINION). like, it feels like there's such a difference between those songs and their songs which are very thoughtfully produced. something I've always noticed is that a lot of their b-sides are usually good or okay, mostly never makes me think it's bad, their title tracks tho? like what was the thought process that went into making that (OPINION). all in all, I guess that music feels very rushed? again, you might not think this and that's okay.

I genuinely feel like they have a lot of potential but it just isn't showing up in their work recently (OPONION). part of it might also be because I think they're really overworked. I saw someone say chan has hundereds of unreleased songs, I have no idea how true that is but if it's true, I see why their music feels rushed. I love their older music and I guess they're just moving to a different sound.

I know I'll still get backlash for saying this even though it's a very lukewarm opinion but it's an opinion for a reason. you don't have to agree with it. that's the beauty of opinions (also the beauty of music I guess? lmao)

how should I prepare for the aat?

I'm planning on applying in the 2nd round so how should I go about preparing for the aat? like is there a site I can practice at or anything like that? and does anyone have examples of essays they ask you to write that I can refer to?

also is it recommended to give the sat? I know it's pretty late now and I probably shouldve decided this earlier but would it really help quite a bit?

S13 EP14 : home invasions was so infuriating

It's the episode where two parents are shot and killed and their 14 year old daughter gets shot as well but survives

Turns out the father had been raping his daughter and Benson quite literally forced her into telling her boyfriend about it like wtf?

Yeah maybe itll go to trial and he'd find out but that's something for her to decide dude. it's her choice whether or not and when she'd tell him. dude this just pmo so bad like there's a thin line between trying to help someone and overstepping your goddamn boundaries. and she's 14 at that.

what am I doing wrong?

my skin becomes SO dry a day or two after applying tret 😭 im talking annoying itchy flaky dry. I've been applying the 0.025% twice a week at night and I do the sandwich method as well. I've literally tried everything but my skin still just remains dry to the point that I just don't want to continue.

should I apply once a week instead of twice? I saw many people saying twice a week for beginners is good so I followed that. I'm also just applying a normal dry skin moisturiser so should I get something heavier? is there any tiny detail I might be missing which is making my skin really dry? is this just what happens when you start and I gotta power through it? would really like some advice

tacrolimus is seriously my favourite thing in the world atp

I've been struggling with eczema for about 7 years now, it stopped in between, but it came back horribly about 3-ish years back. initially, it was little spots on my stomach and around the area (still get it but its whatever really) and then it got to my underarm. that was horrible (still is). never seen anyone talk about underarm eczema because it seriously sucked my life out. couldn't use deodorant because that'll just make it worse but also I can't step out without deodorant, ugh. ultimate solution was to just barely ever go out.

anyways, I was using steroid creams at first and honestly I did about absolutely no research on them and neither did my derm tell me the important stuff so guess who ended up with TSW. and my dumbass just kept using the steroid cream because at that point I was up at 3am balling my eyes out in pain trying to not scratch my skin out of my body.

finally, did some actual research and I've been using tacrolimus for a few months now (not exactly, like I used it a few months back and I started using it again about a month ago). it is genuinely a life saver. im an atheist but im willing to accept god might exist because of this little tube of awesomeness. I never really experienced any intense itching or burning (or atleast can't remember it) that a lot of other people do. it works SO well.

anyways, that's all for my tacrolimus appreciation post
