Prozac

Hello I haven’t taken SSRI in over 12 year and curious what to expect from Prozac when first starting. I am starting on 10 mg for the first 2 weeks, and then supposed to bump to 20 mg a day if I’m feeling less emotional overall. Just curious what to expect and how it’s worked for others!

Recently posted this - on day 12 and I’m feeling a bit shaky even at 6 pm, someone mentioned it. I’m taking it in the morning. Definitely feeling a bit weird. I’m supposed to up my dose on Thursday. Should I continue to up to 20 mg or hold off?

Mostly just lack of appetite

Month 3-4 of 0.05%

Month 3-4 of Tretinoin is difficult. Ive noticed improvement of acne but texture hasn’t caught up yet. Looks like an orange peel. I’ve been using daily for 5 weeks now. When does the texture catch up? Almost looks worse.

Atrophic scarring

When during treatment can you tell if atrophic scarring is settled? I’ve had a lot of texture change from month 2-3 of treatment, but I’m getting worried about an indent and slight rolling texture. I’ve been on tretinoin 0.05 and azelaic 15% for about 14 weeks now. I upped tret to daily use at 2 months. Still dealing with significant PIE in these areas

Slight burning

I’ve been using Tret 0.05 and azelaic 15% for 3 months now. I upped Tret use to daily at 2 months. It’s been 5 weeks with daily use and I’m experiencing some slight burning suddenly. My routine has been the same. I am not using exfoliant. I use barrier repair moisturizers. Any common reasons for sudden barrier irritation?

Doxycycline for Acne

Has anyone taken doxycycline for acne long term as in 3 months or longer? I’ve been on it for almost 14 weeks now and I’m just now cutting back to 100 mg instead of 200 mg as I am no longer breaking out. My doctor said to cut back to 100 when I can and seemed to say to continue until my next appt at the 4 month mark. I am experiencing some skin sensitivity in other areas and would like to get off of it but also worried. Any advice or experience here?

Interest in Skincare

I’m currently exploring a career shift into the health, wellness, and skincare space and would love some advice from people already in these industries.

I’ve always been very interested in health and wellness, I grew up playing tennis, enjoy fitness and staying active, and I’m really into nutrition, self-care, skincare, and healthy living overall. I feel like wellness and preventative health are only continuing to grow as more people become conscious about aging well and taking care of themselves.

More recently, I went through a difficult skin breakout triggered by high levels of B12, and during the healing process I became genuinely interested in skincare ingredients, treatments, routines, and the science behind skin health. It made me realize how connected skin issues can be to mental health and self-confidence, which also inspired me to want to help others in this area.

I’ve considered esthetician school because skincare genuinely excites me, but I’m not sure I see myself doing traditional facials full-time. I think I may be more drawn to the medical, educational, research, or brand side of skincare/wellness, I’m just struggling to pinpoint the right niche.

For people working in wellness, skincare, aesthetics, or related industries:

•	What career paths do you think have strong long-term growth?

•	Are there any lesser known or unique niches you’d recommend exploring?

•	How did you figure out what area fit you best?

•	Any thoughts on careers like medical aesthetics, skincare education, brand partnerships/affiliate work, clinical studies, wellness coaching, etc.?

I’d really appreciate any insight or advice from people in these fields.

Tret near mouth area

Hey everyone initially when starting on Tret my derm said to be cautious with Tret around mouth area and so I never get close to lips etc. I am trying to target some spots in this area that I had breakouts and am wondering others experience with using Tret in this area and if your skin adjusts to it.

Also what about azelaic?

[acne] Progress

3 months cystic acne progress - spironlactone, doxycycline, azelaic, tretinoin. I don't think I realized how bad my acne because it happened so quickly. Leftover PIE & now texture which has become more visible this month. Still a ways to go..

[acne] Cystic acne

Cystic acne sucks. No one prepares you for how bad it will be. Painful bumps and constantly irritated skin. Always red. Always reactive. Uncomfortable. Constant pimples. Anxiety. Depression. Checking your phone for every remedy in the book. Only looking forward to the next appointment or timeline. Then when the acne stops. Texture. Weird texture and scary skin. Constant makeup, and worry of reapplying sunscreen over makeup. Scared of the sun because of PIE. Life quality down. When will it end. Truly horrifying experience.

Hi! Does anyone have suggestions of sunscreen products that work well over makeup? Sensitive and acne prone skin. Looking for something that would work for reapplication throughout day. Thank you!

May is always a really hard month for me with Mother’s Day coming up and the anniversary of my mom’s passing. My mom died by suicide when I was in high school, she was my best friend.

I often think about how different life would be if she were still here with me today. I used to feel jealous of friends who could call their moms and spend time with them. I feel like I’ve been impacted a lot by that loss and the trauma around it, and I’ve never fully found healing or felt like I developed fully healthy relationships because of it.

It didn’t help that after she passed, my dad remarried a younger woman who tried to push us out of his life. I feel like I lost myself for a long time, and so much of that period is just a blur to me now. For many years, I think I avoided really feeling or processing the pain and trauma.

Even though a lot of time has passed, I’ve never really been able to openly express or share my grief. I think I always felt too vulnerable to post about it.

Life isn’t fair.

Has anyone here actually used azelaic acid twice a day (AM + PM) while also using tretinoin?

I’ve been using both for about 3 months—tret at night and azelaic once in the morning, for acne + PIE. I saw someone mention their derm had them doing azelaic twice daily, even at night with tret.

Just wondering if anyone’s actually tried that and how it went. Did your skin handle it fine and did it actually help more with acne or fading redness/marks? Or did it just end up being too drying/irritating?

Also curious if anyone felt like going from once daily to twice daily was actually worth it, or if once daily was enough long term.

I use tret 0.05% at nights and azelaic 15% in the morning. My skin has adjusted I don’t get sensitivity to either and my skin is healing. It’s getting really hot where I live and I can’t seem to handle heat well. Even outside in the shade my skin just starts to feel like it’s burning because of the heat. If I’m outside for hours it will burn for hours. I just can’t seem to handle the hot temperature for long and it makes it difficult to be outside and I almost avoid it as much as I can now. Has anyone experienced this and when did it seem to get better? I’ve been using them both for 3 months now.

I’ve never dealt with this prior so asking to see if anyone has had experience with this and what it means. Overall, I have mild texture in daylight, for example natural lighting in the car I see some texture and mild indent but not anything crazy. When I use bathrooms at restaurant, with darker lighting etc for some reason my skin looks way worse. It scares me. I don’t know how to judge my skin by this. I am early in treatment - 3 months and have never had acne previously so this is all new for me. Does anyone have similar experience with texture etc? Any input is appreciated.
