Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice or to hear from anyone who's experienced something similar with an older Ragdoll.

My female Ragdoll is around 14.5 years old. About three weeks ago she started losing weight, dropping from around 4 kg to 3.5 kg. Over the last few days she also stopped eating and drinking properly and became noticeably bonier, especially around her legs.

At the initial examination, the vet noticed:

- Pale gums and ears.

- Significant anaemia (they even had difficulty drawing blood from a vein and had to use her paw).

- Temperature of 39.5°C.

The first blood test showed that her kidney and liver values were normal, which was reassuring.

The second set of blood results showed:

- Severe regenerative anaemia.

- Very low red blood cell count and haematocrit.

- Increased reticulocytes, suggesting her body is trying to replace lost red blood cells.

- White blood cell count was within the normal range.

- Platelets were adequate.

- A blood smear showed no blood parasites and no obvious abnormal cells.

She's been given a steroid injection ( after that injection she's given further 10 steroid pills 1 for a day) and an appetite stimulant while further investigations continue.

One thing worth mentioning is that for the past month or so, every couple of days she would sometimes vomit a few hours after eating. The first vomit was usually undigested food, followed by one or two vomits that contained fresh blood. At the time she otherwise seemed completely normal—active, agile, using the litter tray normally, and behaving like herself.

Over the last couple of days there have actually been a few encouraging signs. She still follows me around the house, enjoys being brushed and cuddled, purrs, jumps onto the sofa by herself, watches what's going on around her, and has started taking small nibbles of food again, although she's still eating far less then what she used to but she's on vet food and enjoying it bit by bit

I'm waiting for further tests, but in the meantime I'm wondering:

- Has anyone else's older Ragdoll had severe regenerative anaemia like this?

- If so, what turned out to be the underlying cause?

- Did your cat recover, and what treatment helped?

- Is there anything I should be asking my vet to investigate next?

I'm not looking for a diagnosis, just hoping to hear about similar experiences while we wait for the next steps.

We will be taking her to vets once her q9 day steroid pills finished to weigh her then we will continue another 10 day steroid treatment then we will be doing again red blood cell count through blood test.

Looking to get some decent watch from china time but still not sure what to get, I've heard most people say Rolex and all but how about omegas Cartiers and other good watches ? Or just get a Rolex any thoughts appreciated 👍
