Is albania a good country to hitchhike ?

Hey guys, I'm 20 years old and I'm from Vienna, Austria.

I'm planning a solo trip and I'm considering some countries in the Balkans, especially Albania. My plan would be to fly to Tirana, explore the city, and then either take the train/Bus or hitchhike to the south, to places like Himara and Borsh. After that, I'd like to head more inland, to the Gjirokastër region, to visit the Blue Eye.

I don't have a tent, only an inflatable mattress and a sleeping bag, so I'll mostly be relying on hostels or cheap hotels.

If anyone has any tips about hitchhiking ,Albania or any other recommendations, I would be very thankful.

Is albania a good country for a solo trip?

Hi I'm a 20-year-old from Vienna, Austria, and I'm planning a solo trip this summer.

Im considering Albania, but I'm also thinking about alternatives like Tunisia, Georgia/Armenia, or Turkey or spain (way st James)so I'm still deciding between a few countries

My idea for Albania would be traveling along the south coast, staying and moving between small coastal towns rather than staying in big resorts or cities.

I don't have a driver's license, so I'll be relying on public transport and hitchhiking.

I only speak German and english.

Are there any places or sitationen i should avoid.

Im interested in culture, little villages, and less touristy coastal places rather than resort areas. Albania really looks like a hidden gem and something completely different from what I'm used to in Austria. So If you habe any recommendation or anything tips for Solo traveling or albania thanks for any Help.

Thinking about a solo trip to Tunisia

Hi thinking about a solo trip to tunesia

Hi

I’m a 20-year-old from Vienna Austria and I’m planning a solo trip this summer

I’m considering Tunisia, but I’m also thinking about alternatives like Georgia/Armenia,turkiye or albania so I’m still deciding between a few countries.

My rough idea for Tunisia would be: 1-2 in Tunis, then traveling along the coast (Mahdia, Sousse, maybe Sfax) and possibly a short desert side trip (Matmata or Douz) before returning to Tunis.

I don’t have a driver’s license, so I’ll be relying on public transport

I’m mostly interested in culture, food, everyday life, and less touristy places rather than resorts Tunisea Looks for me (Working Class Guy from Austria who travels maybe every few years if the Money allows it 😂) Like a Paradies something i have never Seen before.

A few questions:

How realistic is traveling around Tunisia without a car?

How safe did you feel as a solo traveler?

Any areas or situations to avoid?

Any cultural tips or common mistakes for first-timers?

Is English enough to get by outside tourist areas?

Thanks for any Help

Going to Armenia any advice

First time going to Armenia what should i know ?

Hi everyone,

Im a 20-year-old from Vienna, Austria, and I'm planning a solo trip to the Caucasus this summer.

My current plan is to spend around 10–13 days in Georgia and then continue to Armenia. I dont have a driver's license, so i would be dependet on Public Transport or buses.

I'm very interested about Armenia/Georgia the region and its culture, history.

One thing worth mentioning is that I don't speak Armenian/Georgian. I only speak German and English, i am trying to lern the basics in Georgian and Armenia but only a few words thats it is that a very big Problem the Language barrier?

My father is a bit concerned about the trip. His main worry is that if something were to happen, help might not be easily available, especially since I'll be traveling alone. I've read a lot of positive things about Armenia, but I'd love to hear from locals or people who have traveled solo in Armenia and the Caucasus.

How safe did you feel?

Are there any areas or situations I should avoid?

Any cultural no-gos, practical tips, or things you wish you had known before going? And is there anything that might help reassure my father that solo travel in Armenia/Georgia is generally manageable and safe?

I'd really appreciate any advice, experiences, or recommendations.

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,

My current plan is to spend around 10–13 days in Georgia and then continue to Armenia. Since I'm on a bit of a budget, I'm thinking of visiting Tbilisi, Kazbegi, Batumi, and possibly Juta if time and budget allow. I also have a driver's license, so i would be dependet on Public Transport or buses.

I'm very interested about Georgia the region and its culture, history.

One thing worth mentioning is that I don't speak Georgian (or Armenian). I only speak German and English, i am trying to lern the basics in Georgian like gamarjoba sakhelia madlobaso...bu thats it is that a very big Problem the Language barrier?
