My shipment from China is currently stuck at Nhava Sheva Port Customs because CHA is asking for a BIS certificate for the product.

The issue is that the original manufacturer does not have BIS certificate and it is being imported regularly in India by multiple companies in crores of values.

I have used the same HSN as they have been using in their invoices. I don't think my particular product requires it but they are considering in under a whole 3 phase induction motor category whereas my product does not fall in that it is single phase.

My freight forwarder is saying that the CHA is not willing to take the matter forward because the BIS certificate missing.

Can anyone help in clearing the shipment or let me know what actions can I take.

Has anyone in India dealt with a similar Customs/BIS issue? Would really appreciate advice from importers, CHAs, Customs professionals, or anyone who has handled BIS-related detentions

Hi everyone,

I own a 2018 TVS Apache RR310. My original ECU failed, so it was replaced with a genuine ECU at a trusted garage.

Ever since the replacement, I've noticed a significant drop in fuel economy:

- City mileage: ~15 km/L

- Highway mileage on long rides: ~28 km/L

Before the ECU replacement, the bike gave noticeably better mileage around 28kmpl in city riding.

The bike otherwise runs reasonably well, and I don't have any major rideability issues.

I am not sure if it is due to ECU change or some other issue. Also the check engine light comes on sometimes but that is also very unpredictable as it stays off sometimes.

If anyone has faced this on a 2018 RR310 I'd really appreciate your advice.

I have been using volza for the last 3-4 months, but since last 30-40 days data is no longer visible for any company. Their support team says this is due to updated government guidelines that they are not able to share the data and they are actively working to resolve this.

Does anyone have any more information on this, will it get resolved or the government has restricted such data sharing?

If I place an order on **FOB terms**, do I still have to pay VAT in China on the FOB value? Or are export orders typically zero-rated / VAT-exempt from the supplier side?

Some suppliers quote FOB prices without mentioning VAT separately, while others bring it up during negotiation, so I'm a bit confused about how it actually works in practice.

Would really appreciate if someone who has experience could clarify:

- Do I have to pay VAT on FOB prices, if yes what value?

- Do exporters get VAT refunds internally, or does it affect my pricing?

- Anything I should be careful about while negotiating on FOB prices?

- Any other tax I should be aware of, since I cannot mals changes after the negotiations are done.
