We need to talk about combat in SE1.

With Warfare 3 being the next update for SE1 we need to discuss the problems with combat starting with the most important one.

Combat is fundamentally flawed and there’s no way to truly fix it. Due to the fact that ships are built and destroyed piece by piece combat will always be flawed. So instead of trying to completely fix combat let’s look at the flaws and see what is fixable.

What wins combat: There are 2 things that win any combat scenario in SE1. Speed and volume. Speed means that you can outmaneuver any enemy fire. Volume means either more ships or more shots it’s much easier to hit a fast moving target if you’re firing hundreds of rounds a minute at it.

What defeats the enemy: There are two things that need to happen to defeat an enemy. They need to stop moving and stop shooting. There are a few ways to do this from destroying the guns and thrusters themselves to destroying the power, conveyor, or fuel systems to just destroying the ship outright.

What happens after combat: While there are a few things happen after combat there are 2 things that are required to be done before the next fight. Repairs and rearming. Both of which take time and resources.

The Flaws with combat:

  1. Speed is so important that slow ships aren’t just bad they’re guaranteed to be destroyed making them a completely unviable choice.

  2. Volume of fire is so important that anything besides gatling guns and auto cannons are just going to be missing their shots making them pointless.

  3. Repairs are a pain just plain simple.

How to fix them:

  1. Give guns different roles. Making each weapon have a purpose would go a long way.

  2. Make repairs easier. I actually have a way to do this in the form of a new Prototech welder. Instead of repairing right in front of itself it instead repairs in a beam instead. However it can only repair one block at a time and is power hungry though in can repair through blocks as well. Maybe even a turret version could be added.

  3. Reverse the decoy nerf. Maybe make in only able to mimic a single system type at a time or something but make them actually useful.

The controversial addition: A shield. Now before you sacrifice me to Klang let me explain how I’d add a shield. First it’s gota be Prototech. Second it doesn’t give damage immunity instead it reduces damage by a large amount. Third the damage reduction is tied to speed the slower you go your shield get stronger faster and it gets worse even completely failing at high speeds.

But what do y’all think? What changes do you think should happen?

Need Enclave weapons and armor mod suggestions. (I’ve already got the obvious ones).

I’m going to do an enclave playthrough but I need more weapons and armor mods. I’ve already got the obvious ones. For armor anything with an Enclave paint job will work. As for weapons again anything with Enclave paint is great but I’ll take anything with a black paint job. Also very important NO PREREQUISITES BESIDES OFFICIAL DLC. I’m not downloading something like Munitions just for like 1 or 2 weapons.

I found a reference to Pacific Drive in a Minecraft mod page.

If you want to take a look for yourself the mod is the Official Automobile Pack (OAmP) which is a addon for the Immersive Vehicles mod.

“Drive & Deco” a smallish update idea.

This update focuses on expanding car customization using a new auto shop upgrade.

“The Deco-Matic”: This upgraded Deco-Vend has the same functionality as normal plus a “mixing station” which has 2 inputs, an output, and a preview screen.

“How it works”: The “mixing station” does 3 different things depending on what you put in each of the 2 slots.

  1. Decal Recoloring: By mixing any paint with one of the following decals: Arda, Flames, Numbers, Panel, Sketchy, Stripes, or Two Tone you get the decal in the color of the paint you put in. Keep in mind that you don’t get the paint back and the decal has the same amount of durability as before.

  2. Double Decals: By inserting 2 different decals you get a “double decal”. An example is “Retro Stripes over Wood Panel” however you can swap them around so you’d get “Wood Panel over Retro Stripes”. There is 2 restrictions: 1. no duplicates this not only includes exact duplicates but copies (including different colors) of any of the recolorable decals. 2. You can’t use double decals to make double decals for obvious reasons.

  3. Copycats: By utilizing LIM technology the mixing station can make some car parts look like other parts provided that they are the same type of part. The following part types can be copied: Doors, Panels, Bumpers, Headlights, and Tires. Just keep in mind that the part you copy DOES NOT get destroyed, damaged, or altered in any way. Also the “copycat” part unfortunately gets any paint and decals removed during the process.

Keep in mind that all 3 functions of the mixing station cost stable LIM energy with decal recoloring and double decals using 0.2 while copycats use 0.5.

Additional feature I’d like to see: Different engine sounds. This is pretty self explanatory however if this is added engines would also be able to use the copycat system.

I think a Pacific Drive mod for Minecraft would be amazing.

Now I don’t know if should post this here since it’s not fully related to Pacific Drive but I saw someone post their recreation of a instability storm in Minecraft here so I guess it’s probably allowed.

I was thinking about Pacific Drive a couple of days ago and a single thought popped into my head. “The station wagon wouldn’t look too out of place in Minecraft”. That was the catalyst for an idea. A Pacific Drive mod for Minecraft. The possibility’s are endless from simple equipment for yourself to new blocks of both decorative and utility purposes and even new car parts utilizing the many resources of Minecraft.

But what do you think fellow Drivers/Breachers would a Pacific Drive mod for Minecraft be something you’d want to see? I’m curious to hear your thoughts.

Also in case this post isn’t allowed here I’m not going to write down my ideas for such a mod until this post stays up for like a day or I get a ok from a moderator. Cause it would take me like half a hour just to type it all out and I don’t wanna do that if there’s a chance that my post would end up being deleted. If the post is still up I’ll make an edit/comment with my ideas.
