Weirdest metal merch you own

Here's my MC frisbee I acquired at their merch table at their show in September 2023.

Unfortunately, it is not as heavy as a TON OF BRICKS.

Agent Steel - Guilty as Charged, etc. (Live, November 22, 1985 @ Blondie's, Detroit, Michigan)

Amazing gem of a show with great Cyriis commentary between songs and clear sound quality.

That darn umlaut 😅

Got a bit frustrated attempting to find Rÿche CDs to borrow. My local library system doesn't like the ÿ special character.

Can anyone tell me where the sound clip used in both the Forbidden song "Wake up" & the Agent Steel song "Awaken the storm" is from?

It sounds like an older man giving a lecture or talk about aliens.

He says: "What if... we discovered we were threatened by an outer power from outer space?"

It appeared first on the 1994 Distortion album by Forbidden and then on the 1999 Omega Conspiracy album by Agent Steel.

Morphine - Honey White (alternate video by Karim Ek)

When Morphine was booked to play a benefit concert in the summer of 1997 for Central Park Summerstage, manager Deb Klein invited her friends filmmaker Karim Ek and Trona guitarist & singer Mary Ellen Leahy to tag along with the band to New York City to document the performance.

They shot the video Ek describes below. He added the “Honey White” soundtrack much later for his reel, which he recently unearthed for us to share with you here.

"about the Honey White music video... that video was made for exactly 200 dollars... the cheapest video I ever made, shot on a Super8 camera I found in a dumpster in Biarritz while hitchhiking around France... I had a cheap video extender lense that I taped to the front of the Super 8 that made the frame extremely wide, almost fisheye, which negated the need to focus or stabilize while running handheld, chasing Mary Ellen through Central Park as my "B" roll. The band's performance was also captured on Super8 but with a different camera: a Cannon that had an internal dissolve function which allowed me to create mesmerizing double image sequences. Pushing the limits and creative potential of Super8 also allowed me to create many other in-camera effects like the staccato stop motion effect made by rapid fire finger pulling on the camera's trigger... I think in total I used just 4 or 5 rolls of film which were carefully tele-cined to 3/4 inch Umatic video tape, then edited A/B tape to tape in sync with the album studio track (no nonlinear computer system involved in the Editing)…

As far as I know, no posts in this sub about Steel Prophet

Steel Prophet is (was?) an American power prog metal band out of LA that was founded in the early 80s.

Their main singer on 90% or so of their albums was Rick Mythiasin, an excellent singer that sounds a LOT like Geoff, with a bit of John Cyriis thrown in.

Excellent band!!!

Sadly they never really made it and remain obscure to this day.

I think I am the only guy in America that heard of these guys *before* I listened to Queensrÿche 😄

What does the line "reach again for that nail" mean in the song Promised Land?

Here are the printed lyrics from the cassette insert:

Star - Elysian Fields

Amazing band from NYC that is still active today! Singer Jennifer Charles sounds like Lana Del Rey and this video is from their debut album, "Bleed Your Cedar", a sultry mix of jazz, alternative/grunge, and goth.

Queensrÿche - Damaged (1994) sounds similar to KFADFFAL era

Hear me out (in the new frontier).

Just take that one song called "Damaged" off the Promised Land (1994) album. It is a heavy one and reminds me a bit of Ricochet.

Hell, Geoff Tate even *looked* like Patton in 1994. 😅

Hoopla is a great free service. It's an app for iPhone and Android wherein you can listen to digital music, audiobooks, movies, and etc.

You get 5 albums a month. Just plug in your participating library card account info when you create an account.

Most of the 80s and 90s Rÿche is on there.

New listener; this is my 4th Rÿche album I have heard in its entirety so far on Hoopla.
