Where can I shake ass (in my late 20s) in this city?

29F, been living here since summer 2023. I love Toronto so much. Amazing food scene, amazing bars, amazing city culture in so many ways. I have managed to find just about everything in this city but a reliable place to go dance.

About my preferences!

Dos: reliably busy, diverse crowd, shaking ass-able music (90s/00s, hip hop, some top 40 acceptable, honestly anything from techno to dancehall as long as the vibe in the room is good!), open late (everything closing at 2 breaks my heart a little but this one is negotiable for me lol)

Don'ts: all university students, all white crowd, lots of people but no dancing (looking at you, King St), a place where you need bottle service to have fun, Taylor Swift at the club

I believe this exists in the city, I just haven't reached the right networks to know about them--please enlighten me! I (and my fiancee who is with me in this struggle) will be so very grateful!

Is it self hating if I said my name differently then how it’s actually pronounced?

I was born and raised in a western, when I tell people my name, they misunderstand it and say some cadaan name (???) and then I have to reiterate my name once again, but when I tell other people the same name but pronounced how a person would pronounce it if they seen it written, they will understand it.

Where I’m from, s’ are pronounced as z’s so I have to pronounce a section of my name with a z.

Somehow, every person I know, from friends to classmates, to coworkers, there’s been maybe 16 different ways of people saying my name and I never bothered to correct them because of how exhausting it is.

After discussing the matter with a cousin, I was told I was insecure and self hating. Is this wrong? It bugs me.

(no I’m not gonna name drop my name but it’s between 2 and 7 letters long; arabic unfortunately not somali)

My question is

“Is it weird to pronounce my name more in a westernized way? Would you say it’s self hating and insecurity?”
