Hello, pray-ers!

I'm looking for traditional Latin hymns sung at Vespers any time during the month of October. I prefer melodies that have a fair bit of motion in 'em.

Some of my favorites from other times of year/day in this vein are Jesu dulcis memoria, Aeterne rerum conditor (both versions), O quot undis lacrimarum, Veni creator spiritus, and Ave maris stella.

What are your favorites for the month coming up that work for a Vespers prayer time?

Trial next week where client was arrested for dui for being asleep in driver’s seat in parking lot. Seat fully reclined, car off, keys in passenger seat. Tons of suitcases and his stuff in the car consistent with him living out of the car. Dead ass asleep but definitely drunk.

State has to prove actual physical control and looking for ways to discuss that in voir dire.

I also expect the cop to testify that he had to arrest him because he could have woken up and driven away and I want to voir dire on the fact that we don’t arrest and convict people in America for things they might do in the future. Was thinking of mentioning the movie minority report but looking for ideas on that concept too.

Guy got tased and slapped with TWO felony counts for sleeping in a park in Tennessee. Judge ultimately dismissed it, but be aware, citizens and cops don't see too much difference between us and this fella, so stay alert, look up local ordinances and city codes when you're somewhere new, and uh... steer clear of East Tennessee, I guess!

I've noticed a spate of posts lately along these lines.

Gay guy, mentions age/location, asks if anyone is interested in private chats. Fleeting mention of religion, but basically he's here to mingle, chat, date, etc.

And from the bottom of my heart, I ask the community: Can we not? Please? There are SO many other avenues for gay men to find love (yes, even Catholic love), and as a non-man queer trans person, it just feels awful to have a thoughtful, spiritual space get used even briefly as a hookup channel. Love can blossom from sincere conversations, no one wants to stop that from happening, but...

If there's no substantive discussion related to our faith, I think we shouldn't have it on the sub.

What do y'all think? I'm open and curious to disagreements, too, and obviously there are other perspectives!

Before you've spoken to a person, your résumé (including address and likely birth year based on employment data and all contact information) is now living in 5 data centers that are not linked to you nor the company you applied to. Your email, a password, maybe a date of birth, maybe a verified cell number.

It's all bs. All that data is a product. The third-party companies make decisions off it and resell it. I'm so tired of pretending it's acceptable even while it becomes normal.

When I apply these days, I refuse to do speculative work or use these kinds of tools because it's honestly just distributed, massively-multiplayer slavery.

Stop working for free, y'all. Your personal data and documents, too.

I've read the book twice: first as a sheltered teen trapped in a small town in Texas, once three decades later during a brief visit in the local county... spa and golf club.

Of course, as a 14 year old, I found it all deep as shit and wildly inspiring. I went on to take a lot of wild trips myself as a direct result, tearing around the country in battered cars and occasionally hitching or bussing, being a young menace and a drain on the economy, watching sunrises in strange places and drinking malt liquor with strange people.

Then, after a whole adult lifetime of work, law troubles, marriage, marriage troubles, money coming and going much harder than it came, occasional *real* homelessness, I was sitting in the *spa* reading it again, and I was struck by the beautiful, arrogant stupidity of youth. What was once inspiring was now kinda annoying, the guys who had seemed like heroes now seemed like a pack of messy, narcissistic little shits... but still fantastic prose.

This creator is a sweetheart and a minister and she loves the queer community! Always has positive, biblical inspiration.

I'm one of the talky kind, and I live alone. As my thoughts roam the open range, without paying too much attention to myself, I often find myself deeeeep in imaginary scenarios where monologing is socially appropriate. Here are a few in current rotation:

1. On the Courthouse Steps

We've won the case, and the rapt press is capturing my heartfelt, logically immaculate rhetoric for the 100% supportive public. 10/10, always a great movie scene, lowers the blood pressure.

2. (Related) Witness Impact Statement

In a stunning procedural upset, the accused changes their plea to guilty after my flawlessly constructed, masterfully delivered statement from the witness stand. Was I accusatory? Nay! I was in full control of myself and the situation, and my emotional appeal was completely effective! Cue to roll scene #1 from this list!

3. Camp David or Similar

You know what they haven't tried yet? Me, obviously! Get me in a room with those guys. I know DBT. Within hours, everyone is crying and hugging, calling one another "my brother! my friend!" Another win for the world, thanks to autism!

What are some of your go-tos?

There is something so special about a library or church on a weekday morning or a shopping mall where only the AMC and a Claire's are still operating, a café on a snowy afternoon when no one else is braving the weather, a park the morning after a cold snap... so few people that you can be certain you're unobserved. It's quiet, the light is dim, your thoughts can unfold in peace, or you can enjoy the empty space.

I really appreciate what many NTs would call a creepy vibe, but to me it feels as cozy as my own bedsheets.

Decades of misdiagnosis later, I finally got the professional, credentialed, game-changing phrase that pays.

I can finally let go of all that shame. It'll take a long time, just like all the trauma therapy, but it feels so good to know that I'm not unacceptable or bad. I'M. JUST. AUTISTIC.

And yes. I needed someone with a clinical background to say it TO ME. And that happened today. And I'm very pleased.
