Sargent Konstantine Bothari
So I’ve been doing some Sci fi reading and found a rather peculiar character. Sargent Bothari from the vorkosigan saga.
While under no means a good person I found that I couldn’t quite hate him despite his actions, so I’ll do a quick synopsis
Bothari is born in the slums of Vorbarr Sultana to a prostitute who sells him to her clients; the abuse leaves him psychologically fractured and prone to violent breaks.
His service record is excellent until he is assigned to the sadistic Ges Vorrutyer, whose exploitation pushes Bothari into deeper mental instability in which he rapes a POW in delusions of being husband and wife
During the Escobar War, Vorrutyer orders Bothari to rape another POW Cordelia Naismith; instead, Bothari kills Vorrutyer, a pivotal act that cements his loyalty to Cordelia for life.
Bothari also fathers a daughter, Elena, the result of Vorrutyer’s earlier abuses; he saves money for her dowry and watches over her from afar as she grows up alongside Miles.
Now obviously this guy has been through a lot but also did a lot of bad shit, so what would you say he is on a moral analysis?
