Sargent Konstantine Bothari

Sargent Konstantine Bothari

So I’ve been doing some Sci fi reading and found a rather peculiar character. Sargent Bothari from the vorkosigan saga.

While under no means a good person I found that I couldn’t quite hate him despite his actions, so I’ll do a quick synopsis

Bothari is born in the slums of Vorbarr Sultana to a prostitute who sells him to her clients; the abuse leaves him psychologically fractured and prone to violent breaks.

His service record is excellent until he is assigned to the sadistic Ges Vorrutyer, whose exploitation pushes Bothari into deeper mental instability in which he rapes a POW in delusions of being husband and wife

During the Escobar War, Vorrutyer orders Bothari to rape another POW Cordelia Naismith; instead, Bothari kills Vorrutyer, a pivotal act that cements his loyalty to Cordelia for life.

Bothari also fathers a daughter, Elena, the result of Vorrutyer’s earlier abuses; he saves money for her dowry and watches over her from afar as she grows up alongside Miles.

Now obviously this guy has been through a lot but also did a lot of bad shit, so what would you say he is on a moral analysis?

Since exiting high school I’ve been moving from job to job trying to find a forever career, and even tried college twice but my fucking dumbass can’t keep track of all the assignments so I fail school, can’t keep focus so I mess up at work too much and get fired, and I just have to keep going because despite being fundamentally flawed as a human and not wanting to live my life I can’t kill myself because of all the people who I care for and care for me. But I despise myself, a fool who is unfit to live life due to my incompetence at being human.

But fuck it we ball right? Another day another dollar
