Do you all think one of your own Xers deserves to be president?

Truthfully?

After breaking for Trump all three times and basically collectively giving the finger to the Democrats ever since you've all been able to vote. A generation weaned on Reagan and his voodoo trickle-down economics and capitalism gone amok (which is how we've ended up with fat cats like Bezos and Musk).

You've always collectively leaned MAGA at worst, libertarian at best, which is pretty sad for the first generation to fully undergo racial integration in schools.

You've all always been obsessed with hating the idea of PC. Being able to be un-PC has always been a virtue and so it follows that you'd fall for a bankrupt conman who makes being loud, vulgar, and un-PC his entire persona.

And now you all want to have a president of your own? For what? What would a Gen X president even represent? You've all made your disdain for younger generations very loudly clear and so it's certainly not to help them. You all don't seem to want change. You seem to want just enough status quo to make it through retirement and fuck everybody else after you.

Older Millennials are totally, low-key, taking over from Boomers

Gen X is only now getting some heat and blame from younger people but they're just a temporary distraction for the time being.

Of the younger generations, older millennials are the home-owners. Something like 66% of them own homes (just behind Gen X who had a 10-year head-start) and many of them are on Home #2 before age 45. They're the Boomer's children and you can see this manifested in lines of succession. If Trump dies, he chose JD Vance as his successor. Once King Charles dies, Prince Williams ascends the throne. The Great Boomer Retirement wave benefitted them the most during covid, with companies eager to give young 40-year-olds a foot in the C-Suite door that was previously occupied by 70-year-olds. A ton of the major players running for Senate right now are older millennials. They stand to inherit a ton once the Boomers sayonara.

But because the word millennial has always revolved around younger millennials and their struggles, they've managed to do this all almost completely under the radar.

Why do so many 20somethings now self-infantilize themselves so much these days?

They absolve themselves of any responsibilities because they believe that their brain's frontal lobes don't reach maturity until age 25 or whatever. They obsess over age gaps in other consenting adult's relationships. And they obsess over other people's relationships in general (but that's a different discussion for another thread). The young women say "but I'm just a little girl" while being a fully grown-ass woman in her twenties. And more insidiously, they expect their workplace managers to act as surrogate parents for their situational helplessness.

They basically treat their 20s like an extension of the teenage years.

I could never, ever in a million years imagine my age group saying "but we're just innocent little children!" while we were in our twenties. That would have been social suicide. We would've gotten punked so hard.

Obviously this is not all or even the majority of 20somethings. I assume this must be an American-only thing, I hope. Is this some TikTok bullshit?

Men are far more naturally beautiful than women!

Many civilizations have believed this to be true for centuries. Unlike women, beautiful men don't need makeup. They don't need any cosmetic enhancements.

Why does this opinion offend modern women? Shouldn't they be happy to be judged by their strength and the content of their character rather than their physical appearance?

Male brothels

Filled with gigolos and manwhores. Would you ever go to one? I can see myself going there when I'm older and sex becomes a more difficult thing to come by.

These used to be a lot more common in the olden times in places like turn of the 19th century New York and London. Why don't more exist today?

How about bathhouses? Yeah or nah?

Older millennials, what were some of your favorite bands in the 2000s?

We were often quite awful and snotty to each other in terms of our musical tastes during this era. I'll name some of the ones I remember at least:

Yeah yeah yeahs

Wilco

Neutral Milk Hotel

Death Cab For Cutie

MGMT.

What were yours?

⚔️ Do you enjoy swordfighting (frotting) ⚔️

I've found that while hooking up with guys newer to gay sex (i.e DL men, discreet but not out guys) this is one of their favorite sex activities aside from oral.

I never thought much of it as it reminded me of innocent stuff from back when I was experimenting while much younger. But a recent FB turned me onto it and it's incredibly, highly erotic foreplay. With proper lubrication, it's very masculine as it's one of the only sex acts two guys can perform with each other. Very intimate with the added bonus that you can make out while doing it.

What are your thoughts?

This may be a hot take but are any other millennials actually enjoying newly being in the "middle?"

Maybe this is a little bit more older millennial-coded, and yeah young middle-age has its suckitudes, but... it's nice to be the core adult in charge at home and to be the boss at work.

It's nice not GAF what anybody thinks. No more asking for permission. No more being lectured or being told what to do.

Boomers or Gen Xers want to tell me what to do? Oh no you're not. Not anymore. Go to hell.

And it's super-sweet being in the swing-vote position where you can either side with the elders or the youth.

It's empowering. Just call me Malcolm in the Middle for now.

Why do older hippie Baby Boomers and late Silent Generation get blamed for selling out and turning into yuppies?

The yuppies (Young Urban Professionals) of Wall Street in the 1980s weren't the same people who went to Woodstock and listened to 1960s acid rock.

Yuppies were largely Generation Jones, i.e the younger end of Boomers and the very oldest of Gen X. Blow was their thing, not acid. Manhattan was their thing, not communes. They were in their twenties-thirties in that era and they went all in on conspicuous consumption and greed is good ethos. The hippies were too old to be "young urban professionals" by that point.

Two completely different groups of people.

Is it just me or has open male bisexuality exploded within the last 5 years or so?

Nevermind the contentious debate apparently going on TikTok.

It seems younger dudes are finally becoming more comfortable openly admitting to that curious mlm side of themselves.

Tons of homoeroticism. Gay bars and gay apps are thriving with newcomers asking questions about how to proceed forth when they have girlfriends.

It's definitely a brave new world.

Were you guys Howard Stern's peak listeners?

Gen Xers deny it for some reason when asked.

I do know that older Boomers and Silent Generations thought he was crass and gross.

How about talk radio in general?

TIL (Today I Learned) that Millennials actually beat the Baby Boomers to the vice-presidency at a younger age

JD Vance was 40-years-old upon reaching the White House, and in comparison, Dan Quayle was 41-years-old in 1988.

Yeah, while being VEEP is something like winning Miss Congeniality, and while I'm no fan of the IKEA humper, millennials still have lots of time to claim having reached the presidency at a younger age, too. That's wild.

How do you feel about guys wearing tighty whities?

Tighty whities seem so out of date these days, but IMO, there is nothing hotter for a guy to wear as underwear than a pair of simple, white briefs.

At least the days of gross, baggy boxers seems to be dead.

Opinions?

Millennials, how do you feel still getting misidentified as today's youth by some of the older generations?

By Boomers in particular, but surprisingly still by some Xers!

Like they think we're still in high school and college and doing teenage pranks.,🤣 Nevermind that we've had a whole Vice President in the White House for years who is an older millennial.

It used to bother me but now my 42-year-old ass just finds it hilarious. Sure, you can keep thinking I'm 21. There are worse things in life...

Does anybody else not know why they keep getting this sub recommended on their feed to them?

The only thing I can think of is that I'm an older millennial, almost Britney's age?

But now that I'm here, this is like a Trainwreck that I can't look away from! Oy.

What was your favorite millennial high school film?

I chose Jawbreaker for older millennials. '83 borne here. This scene was iconic and reminded me of some of the alpha female energy from that era.. well minus the whole accidental murder.

Is anybody else just so incredibly grateful to be a gay man?

In the current dating culture, it feels like a "get out of jail free" card.

Straight people sound so absolutely miserable regarding dating each other that I often wonder if they even like each other at all?

Two men just "get" each other better and have way more fun, too.

Are you more likely to go to male-centered gay bars?

Ones that are exclusively targeted for gay men or mlm? Or do you tend to find yourself going to more mixed ones where there are women and straight people? Sometimes both depending on the occasion?

No matter where I go, I always end up where the boys and the booze are!

What's the best older millennial teen movie?

Which teen film best captured that late '90s, Y2K era?

For me, it's a tie between Election and American Pie. But there were so many to choose from! Especially in 1999.
