MNNIT Deserves Better: Repeated Serious Incidents Cannot Become the New Normal

Recent cases at MNNIT are seriously concerning:

  • December 2024 — Two professors physically fighting
  • April 2025 — Stabbing case
  • May 2025 — 1st year Student suicide case
  • July 2025 — Gunfire and harassment case involving an M.Tech student
  • September 2025 — ST SC Discrimination in promotion case
  • December 2025 — Security guard suicide case
  • August 2026 — Rape case
  • Now — Ragging case

Bhai, in incidents ne poore college ki image ki dhajjiyaan uda di hain. Aisa lag raha hai ki administration ko bas jeb bharne aur apni image manage karne se matlab hai. NIRF ranking bhi neeche ja rahi hai har saal. College mein jo ek cheez genuinely strong thi—placements—ab usmein bhi cheating aur manipulation ke allegations saamne aa rahe hain.

Aur administration kar kya raha hai? Underpass banwa ke infrastructure ke naam par apni peeth thapthapa raha hai, jabki campus ke asli issues—student safety, discipline, harassment, ragging, accountability aur academic integrity—par koi serious action nahi dikh raha. itni gaand mra kar college me aao aur ye log sale colllege ki maa ch*d ke rakh diye hain

ye sab 2023 me flat house ke allotment se samay bhi kutte ki tarah road par aakr lar rhe the

ye proctor board wala gandu staff mujhse bolta hai ki hamre professor ka police me pehchan hai are chutiye har semester jab kaand hota hai tum bsdkwalo ka police me hi pehchaan rhega na ki nasa isro ke scientist ya kisi entrepreneur se

Can I become an IPS officer after having LASIK for -8D myopia? Now the vision is 6/6 in both eyes normal for last 3 years

I’m preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination and I’m specifically interested in IPS.

I had around -8D myopia in the past and underwent LASIK. My current eyesight is essentially 0 power / normal vision.

Unfortunately, I have lost the original medical records/LASIK operation documents.

I’ve read the CSE medical rules and understand that LASIK is permitted and that candidates with high myopia may be referred to a Special Ophthalmic Board. However, I’m still confused about how a previous prescription is treated after LASIK.

My questions:

  1. Has anyone with very high myopia who had LASIK successfully cleared the IPS medical examination?
  2. Does the Special Ophthalmic Board consider the pre-LASIK power, or mainly the current eye condition and retinal health?
  3. Is not having the original LASIK documents likely to cause a problem?
  4. What eye tests/reports should I get beforehand to make sure everything is properly documented?

I’m asking specifically about UPSC CSE/IPS, not defence services, since I know the medical standards are different.

Any firsthand experience from IPS candidates or people who have gone through the CSE medical examination would be really helpful.

My old college friend is apparently making ₹5 lakh/month in bribes, and it made me question my PhD

I recently spoke to an old friend from my undergraduate days. Academically, I was always the more talented one between the two of us. Not bragging, just that I have had opportunity to study one of the best institutions in India. He eventually cleared BPSC and is now working as a Labour Officer.

We were casually talking about our lives and careers when he mentioned that he makes around ₹5 lakh per month from bribes over and above his salary.

I honestly didn't know how to react.

I'm currently pursuing a PhD in Economics. My stipend is ₹47,000 a month, and I've spent years studying, doing research, dealing with the uncertainty of academia, and worrying about what my career will look like after the PhD.

Then I hear someone I knew from college, whom I never considered particularly academically capable, casually saying that he's making ₹5 lakh a month through his government position.

Obviously, I understand that this is illegal and that there are risks involved.

But the conversation still left me with a strange feeling.

For a moment I genuinely wondered: Did I make the wrong career choices?

Is spending 5–6 years pursuing a PhD and trying to build a legitimate academic/research career worth it when people in certain government positions can apparently make multiples of a legitimate professional salary through corruption?

I'm not looking for moral lectures about corruption. I know it's illegal. I'm more interested in hearing from people who have faced similar comparisons in their own careers.

How do you deal psychologically with seeing people you once considered less capable become dramatically more financially successful than you? And how do you know whether you're actually on the right career path?
