Goal!!!!! D9 picked

Goal!!!!! D9 picked

This may be the highest belt lock I've picked so far. Started progressive pinning this one by one this afternoon and can now get all 9 in 2-3 minutes. It's a little tricky to navigate, as the front left and right pins are zero lift, while the top rear pin is max lift.

Holding two tensioners stacked wasn't enough for me, so I designed a 3d print that fits snug and sits at just the right height, with a groove for the pick to limit slippage while being able to pick both sides. I used a thick flat Honest Dong dimple pick that proved useful as a regular pick for the top pins.

STL file here for anyone who might want to try it:

2 DDs down and it's thanks to a little 3d print I found

Both of these DD locks gave me trouble when I bought them years back. I'd picked DD locks but didn't comprehend tensioning off another disc to pick disc 1, so any lock that didn't have disc 1 as a zero cut, I never got open.

I also have a lot of trouble keeping the pick straight...well, this print solved that issue and I got both open within ten minutes. Thank you, whoever made this.

Super surprised that BB+LPL didn't consider adding a stabilization ring like this, stock. it's something I envied about people who have the RWB pick.

EDIT: Just got a third problematic DD lock open. This thing is magical.

Anyone use a Haoshi Abloy DD pick?

I have an Abloy 330 with what appears to be a high profile. I was trying to get a hold of hux for Abloy tips for the silver bullet but haven't had much luck , so I saw this pick online.

It came in a regular half moon and wouldn't fit so I dremeled the notch and it fits now, but nothing binds. I'm wondering what the notch the red arrow points to does? I'm assuming I'll have to cut a notch there on the tensioner as well? Also, I have the teeth on the blade (blue arrows)...I'm assuming I'll need those on the tensioner as well so I'm sol...?

Punching way above my belt here but I've grown fascinated with DD locks and would like to learn more since I've picked a few easier ones already. I don't necessarily have to pick this now but would like to make sure my pick is set up properly and there aren't many videos of this online.

Finally! 75IB/50 picked!

I had so much trouble with this, then put it away for a few years. Someone here recommended float picking and it still took some time but it worked!! Thanks to those who recommended it!

Another DD down.

Figured out the other day that you can pick with the tension tip...and all this time I was wondering why most of my cheap DD locks weren't opening...I was most likely setting everything but the disc I was tensioning off of 🥴..

And the DD locks I HAVE opened likely had a zero cut for #1.

So I brought out an old bike lock I could never pick before, and lo and behold I got it using the tension trick. It's a learning experience!

Friend leaves our group on read but expects us to respond when he messages.

I have a small friend/hobby group in my area, maybe 4 people. I tend to be the one organizing meetups once or twice a week via messenger.

One of the guys whom we've known for 5-6 years got a new job at a fireworks store. Now when I or anyone else messages to get together, he ignores us, leaves us on read and doesn't show up. But later that same night he sends us a ton of videos of him blowing off fireworks. This has been going on for a month or so. The group finds it kind of crappy that we are supposed to respond to him but he ignores us. Then he posts videos of him hanging out with his friend from the store after hours, so it feels like his priorities have changed.

Yesterday he messaged us at the last minute to get together. So I left him on read - and the rest of the group did too. Now he's pissed off at me thinking I turned everyone against him.

If he has to work, I get it. But is it too much to ask for him to say "hey I can't make it"?

Abus Granit confusion, need some tips please

Something possessed me to give this lock a try for the first time since buying it years ago, and I feel like I've gotten so close to opening it last night using the Sparrows DD pick, but wonder if I'm doing something wrong.

There is just a spinner in the front, I see no butterfly discs. I'm assuming I'm supposed to be tensioning off disc 1 and the spinner, but I've heard different things depending on if there are butterfly discs.

There is just about NO feedback in the beginning, so I am cranking on the tension at first. The first few discs almost spin freely. The lower ones give the faintest feedback, but once I think I have them set in a gate (false or true), things begin to start binding gradually and the first few discs start binding eventually.

When I start checking for false or true gates, I use the rectangles on the pick to test the wideness. False gates tend to be about 1/2 to 3/4 of a square, true gates seem to be a full square.

Does all this sound about right? I only ask because there are times where I could swear I hit a true gate on say, disc 2, and then when I go to previous disc that was binding, it's moving freely all the way around, so I'm guessing I moved disc 2 OUT of the true gate? idk...

I'm coming from super cheap DD locks that all bind every disc like a mf out of the box, so this feels a little weird. But it's SO much easier to keep the pick on the discs on this lock and not slip off!

Is there a best way to progressive pin ASSA twin 6k?

This lock is above my skill level but I'm progressive pinning it anyway just to get a feel for it. I've got one sidebar pin and one key pin in and it seems to pick easier counterclockwise, but I'm wondering if I should start with all key pins, all side pins, or one of each like I'm doing now?

Also, when fully loaded, do these tend to be picked all of one row first? Or is it a lot of jumping back and forth between the two?

Tonight's picks - first time for both.

This LOTO lock has been kicking my butt for the past week but I finally got it open. The 1100 I had picked, but was still hunting for binders for at least ten minutes before I realized it was already open and the core needed a harder turn...lol oops

Old Best SFIC

My father gave me a Best SFIC lock YEARS ago when I first started picking.  No key or anything but it looks pretty old.  I've spent dozens of hours trying to pick this, and only raked it open once successfully - I tried the Peterson SFIC tool but I think that was useless.  I bought blanks for the keyway and tried to make a bump key, but no luck. I soaked it in WD-40 a long time ago as well but nothing seems to help.

This lock is weird.  The pins are MUSHY as hell even without tension, and in order to get a click at all, I have to jam unnaturally hard on the tension. I've got other Best SFIC locks and those pins all feel normal so I don't know what the deal is.

Ideally I'd like to get to control - I have an SFIC pinning kit and annex and have a feeling it needs refurbishing but I can't even get to it.  Any tips would be appreciated - I'm at the end of my rope with this one for now.

Paclock P90-A Pro opened 😊

Started progressively pinning this one - began with three pins on Thurs/Fri, went thru the weekend one extra pin at a time and last night I got all 7 pins open three times in half an hour. Six serrated pins and one standard.

I hadn't gutted a lock in years so suffice to say I had my share of gutting mishaps with this one...turning the key 180 degrees by accident being the common offender....d'oh.

Now to record it all for the 200K club :)

EDIT: Finally got it recorded. Had to do it three times because the first two I got too anxious and screwed up the gutting process. The final time I got it picked in a minute and a half (my best time), gutted successfully and then realized the lock was slightly out of focus during most of the picking. Hopefully Paclock will accept it!

Lock picked, core sometimes needs force to turn?

I'm working on the Paclock challenge doing progressive pinning and can now do 6 pins in just under a minute - have probably picked it a dozen times today so tomorrow I'll try that 7th pin 😊

However, I notice that sometimes when I pick it, the core needs quite a bit of tension to turn to open, it feels like something is grinding or dragging. 9 times out of 10 it turns with little effort. Curious as to why this is the case?

Smart Controller RM500 not binding to Phantom 4 Pro Plus

I sold a smart controller on eBay - it worked fine for me with my Air2S. I factory reset before I sent it to him and now he claims it won't bind with his Phantom 4 Pro Plus, which he claims is 2.0. I'm not sure what to tell him to try since I can't test myself. Am I missing something?

Customer bought drone remote for his drone that's not compatible

Customer bought a drone remote from me, it's in perfect condition and works great. After hours of trying to help them, now they're complaining that it's not compatible with their drone, even though I listed the compatible drones in the heading of the listing. Am I on the hook for this?

Designed my own 3d printed pinning tray

Been working on progressive pinning my P90A Pro and every other time the table jiggles, the pins jump to other chambers on my tray, so I made my own with a pressure fit cover so the pins stay in place when the table moves. Designed it blind without measuring anything and it works quite well!

Assa 6000 Twin - really dumb question

So I have a thing where if I spot a lock in my building complex, I'll buy a copy and see if I can pick it. Mailbox, security door, storage...I NEVER pick the original, though.

Today I received this from eBay. The item auction picture (as well as the lock in my building) read "Assa Abloy" but this one just says Assa. I'm assuming there's no real difference and this is the same core (Twin 6000) anyway?

I know I'm never gonna pick this anytime soon, just doing this out of curiosity.

Gamma 700 - need tips.

Just received this in the mail over the weekend and can consistently get to a certain point...but after that there's nothing. Hoping to get some tips from those who have picked this baby.

I'm float picking - pin 1 immediately throws the core into a false set (tried setting other pins first to avoid a false set like LPL claims, but no luck). After that, pin 5 will set with some manual counter rotation. Then pin 6 will click and allow the core to turn back to the original false set position, with pin 5 still set. And that's where I hit a wall.

I've watched videos of other people picking this and they all call out counter rotation like they're getting feedback...but I don't feel any pushback whatsoever,, and my tension is like a feather.

My pick tonight - finally did a pin-in-pin!

Had this Jr. sitting for years after I gave up on it. Picked it up tonight and got her open in about ten min. I guess leaving a lock alone for a while does help!

My picks tonight 😊

I have been out of locksport for some years, but when I came across this belt system it made me want to see if I still have "it". Picked all of these tonight and feel all warm and fuzzy again like I used to. Next up is the Burg Wachter Gamma 700 and Kaba Gemini 😊 I have a feeling that warm fuzzy feeling won't last lol

Magnum Mont Blanc - belt confusion

Last night I received and picked (multiple times) the Mont Blanc, while I was struggling with other blue belt locks I own. I then noticed on YouTube that people are saying they're brown belt now after picking it...I'm assuming it was downgraded on the lock belt list? Actually a little surprised it wasn't put at green - the keyway is the only barrier on this lock.
