I'm shocked how dumb grad students are

My wife is in grad school at university for arts education, and holy fucking shit it's worse than I thought.

She had a fellow student say that they shouldn't name animals, because that animal might have a different name for itself. (like Zebra).

My wife challenged it and asked what the problem was with that, and everyone defended his statement.

WTF are we doing here? This guy will have a masters degree soon, and he doesn't understand the utility of us naming a species.

Like, when I was a kid we would call this dude retarded and shame him out of his stupid idea, and the idea would die. But now we are so accepting that these morons get to voice the dumbest shit imaginable.

Edit: He's 50 years old and saying this.

In a debate someone claimed that EBT actually helps the economy.

I was debating with an associate about how I don't think EBT should be given out to as many people as it is, and how I think a lot of welfare programs are being taken advantage of. His rebuttal, was that food stamps and EBT actually 'stimulate the economy, up to 1.80$ for every dollar spent."

I don't even know what to say to that, he sent me a source which I will link below, but common sense tells us it's bull. If you could simply put one dollar into the economy and get 1.8 back, then it would be an infinite money glitch. Obviously it can't work that way.

Can someone please explain this to me and help me debunk this nonsense?

Had dinner with my parents yesterday and they brought up fake Odyssey rumors

My step mother was saying that some tickets for the Imax are apparently going for as high as a $1000.00 per ticket according to the news. I told her that's a joke, no human being is payin a thousand dollars for a fucking movie ticket.

She was adamant because it was on the news so I told her "yea well remember Covid? The news lies all the time."

People actually believe this guerilla advertising.

Welp, I watched Supergirl (spoilers)

So I took the wife to see supergirl today. Just got back from the theater. Let me tell you, I wouldn't watch the movie if it was free. I figured, hey fuck it. I'm going to watch it since my wife was interested and I wouldn't listen to any outside critique and just come up with my own opinion.

I give the movie 2/5 stars. There wasn't much of "the message" but there wasn't much of anything really. The story had some blatant plot holes in the beginning, but it's biggest crime is that there wasn't a single part of the movie that made me laugh or get excited.

In the opening scene the bad guy (I think his name is Klem or something) lands his ship next to a little house on the prairie type place.

The husband and wife there know he's there to get their really well made swords. So they agree to just give him the swords so he leaves them alone. He gets there, they agree to give him the sword but not before insulting him some (because they're trying to live and think that will help?). Their son jumps out and the bad guy throws an axe and kills him for the fun of it. So the parents fight and die too. But before he dies, the dad activates a bunch of mines outside the house that blow up the bad guys ship and kills some of his henchmen.

WHY DIDN"T THEY DO THAT RIGHT AWAY??? They killed some of his men so it would have worked on him too theoretically.

Anyways, the daughter lives and swears revenge. (she has one of the super awesome swords). Skip to the end of the movie, and there's nothing noticeably special about the swords. They have no special trait that's shown, or mentioned by any of the characters in the show. It seems to just be a good sword, but this is a world of space ships and lasers so who cares.

Also the bad guy steals supergirls ship, instead of just stealing a space bus, (which literally shows up 5 minutes later in the movie at a space bus stop).

The action was okay, the villain was terrible, and there was just nothing good about the movie.

I really like tanky pokemon, but my issue is I have horrible type diversity. I'm committed to these pokemon so far and could use some help rounding out my party. I could also use some advice on moves to teach them haha, haven't played pokemon in a decade.

Tyranitar

Aggron

Aerodactyl

Electabuzz
