IPSC - Getting Started

Hey guys!

I have been looking to get started in IPSC. I contacted an instructor at my club, however I am unsure what the next steps are to get my Black Badge, or if the instructors at my range even offer the ability to conduct that course.

I plan on borrowing a friend’s Glock 44, however I am aware I need a range belt, magazine pouches, and a holster. On the candidate page it mentions the holster cannot have a index finger release, does this mean retention holsters are not allowed? Even if they utilize a thumb flip system instead of an index finger button?

What other equipment is required besides the basic range garb (ear defenders, eye protection, etc).

Also, if you have any recommendations on what equipment to buy i’d greatly appreciate it! I am trying to do this on a budget as a university student, so I don’t wanna break the bank, some OWN holsters i’ve seen from big names like Safariland are upwards of $190…

Cheers (:

IPSC - Young Adults Program?

Good evening,

I was on the IPSC website and noticed a “future” program. I sent an email to the coordinator as mentioned on the website, but I am just curious as to what it might entail?

Im a relatively low-income college student and i’ve wanted to get involved with IPSC for sometime, but I can’t afford a $300/month membership nor travel as frequently.

Cheers!

Alternative Parking

Good evening,

I will be attending UOttawa in the fall, and I am wondering what alternatives there are to parking near campus?

Campus parking passes have already sold out and the local indigo lots have waitlists spanning up to a year. Just wanted to see what alternative lots/parking might be available at a monthly rate.

Public transit is not an option for me as I live at the edge of Ottawa, towards Kemptville.

Cheers!

Next Steps - TM22 Feather

I bought a TM22 Feather a handful of days ago, I put 400ish rounds through it before experiencing an out of battery detonation. I took the gun home, and I ran a copper cleaning brush as well as cleaning wad through the barrel only to find both items getting hung up on one specific spot, full stop, no matter how hard I tried to force the brush or wad through. The barrel is clear, meaning I can see through and through, however it looks like there is some damage an inch or two in the rifling of the barrel. Im trying to decide if I pack the gun up and send it off to be warrantied, but after reading some reviews on the company here in Canada that deals with the warranty claims it seems like it’ll do more harm than good.

So essentially, im wondering if I should take it to my local gunsmith and go from there instead of going straight to warranty.

What are your guy’s opinions? How were your experiences with Derya’s warranty claim centres/overall customer service?

Ottawa Area Gunsmiths 2026?

Good evening,

I recently had an out of battery discharge in my TM22 and I wanna get the barrel inspected before I do anything else with the gun. I tried running a ram rod through it with a brush and it comes to a hard stop, even though the barrel has no visual obstructions (but I can see some sort of deformation in the barrel).

Are there any gunsmiths in the Ottawa area besides the Gun Medic and Gunco? I used to go to That Hunting store but it seems they don’t offer that service anymore.

ISPC - Beginner

Good afternoon,

I am interested in getting my black badge and becoming an ISPC member. However, with the current handgun bans im unsure of the organization has been affected due to the freeze on handguns. I can’t find any info about using shotguns in the organization within Ontario.

Is it still possible to become a member? I have my PAL and RPAL, but I don’t own a handgun. I do own a shotgun.

Barrel Fouling - Benelli SuperNova

As the title suggests, I just bought a brand new Benelli SuperNova as my first gun! However, after shooting about 50 rifled slugs I found that the barrel was super dirty and fouled.

I spent an hour cleaning with a copper brush, wool wad soaked with “gun cleaner” with little results. Are there any chemicals/tips that work best for reducing the build up and cleaning it?

It’s my first gun so I want to make it last!

My Division Agent Cosplay

I have slowly been working very first cosplay which is a Division Agent from Tom Clancy’s the Division. I finally got the last piece I needed! The transceiver looks amazing.

Cosplay Photography

I finally bit the bullet and bought an ISAC transceiver, I set up my camera and played around with the lighting. How do you lads think it turned out?

Cheers!

Cosplay photography

I finally bit the bullet and ordered myself an ISAC transceiver, I set up some lighting and took a few photos. The editing turned out decent-ish, but I wanted to hear what the rest of the community had to say.

Ps: (Those last two shots were taken with my DSLR camera, everything else was shot via my Iphone 11).

Cheers!

PHI1101 - PHI1301 Dilemma

I failed PHI1101 last semester, and I am debating whether I should force myself to retake it or look into taking PHI1301 next year.

From what I understand, PHI1301 is more focused on reading and arguments, whereas PHI1101 focuses much more on symbolic logic, proofs, and rule-based reasoning.

I am curious if anyone else had any input? I heavily struggled with the math-styled analytical logic structure of PHI1101.

I just don't want to end up putting myself in a worse position with a different course...

Cheers!
