FYE computer situation

I currently have a m1 MacBook Air and a very good desktop PC (7700x 32gb ram 5060ti 16gb) that I plan on bringing with me to Purdue in the fall. Should I still get a windows laptop or is remote desktop from my Mac to my PC a viable alternative for CAD use cases?

UIUC or Purdue for AE

Context: I already put down my deposit for Purdue but I got off of the waitlist for UIUC and have until around may 20th to decide.

I know this sounds like a stupid question, Purdue on paper is much better than UIUC for aerospace engineering, but here are some differences and places where UIUC gains some ground on Purdue:

  1. UIUC directly admitted me directly into the AE program while I still have to go though the selection process for Purdue after freshman year
  2. I would like to go for a CS/AI minor and UIUC has a much stronger CS program

I am personally very conflicted between these two and I’d really appreciate hearing more perspectives, especially from anyone who has experience with either program or has faced a similar choice.
