What are we supposed to do?

If you send out thousands of applications, what do they expect us to do? I'm not asking for help on the application side of things. I'm just genuinely curious how much longer this can last as a society, or if they think the K-shaped economy is sustainable from their position. We have tens of millions of unemployed angry people, with no money, and nothing left to lose...

Chapo foreign policy discussions are... not great

I am not trying to write a dissertation here, so feel free to ignore this post if you are looking for line-by-line analysis, but their foreign policy discussions on the Russo-Ukrainian war continue to be very weak interpretations, seemingly filtered through two or three layers of liberal establishment and independent media.

Russia continues to push further west. This war is not a blitzkrieg by any means, but the continual advancement is impossible to ignore if you follow the war closely through any number of the independent war trackers on telegram or youtube. Russia was never going to lose this war, even with western support of Ukraine, barring a nuclear exchange. Any cursory materialist analysis would give this conclusion back in 2022, so tepidly framing this as a 'stalemate' in 2026 is just wrong.

They acknowledge the mass kidnappings of Ukrainian men, but then casually say this is happening on both sides, as they do with other facets of the war (drone power, logistic degradation, etc). I have not seen the same mass kidnappings happening in Russia, but feel free to correct me. The distinct 'both sides are fucked,' is just not true.

Not talking about Oreshnik was odd, since they've been deployed and proven twice in this war by Russia, and you would think any detailed war analysis would mention this.

I highly recommend Mr. Chapo reach out to Pascal Lottaz and his orbit for much better reporting on the conflict.

Where my teachers at?

I'm sure many of you have come across Paulo Freire if you did teacher preparation in the United States, my main question is why?

Why is a self-described Marxist education theorist able to be so thoroughly prescribed in earnest inside neoliberal universities?

Peace n chicken grease

Looks like this sub is cooked. So long and thanks for all the fish. AI is not your friend, especially in an art sub. If another community pops up in the future, let me know. Take care comrades.

Small hatchet eye deforming?

Got a gransfors bruk small hatchet, the smallest one they offer. I’m wondering if I’m already deforming the eye after a week of normal use? Never hit the poll with anything metal. Used mostly for spoon carving. Am I just noticing slight quirks in it or do you think it’s actually deforming?

I get stuck thinking about self assessments and reflections when it comes to designing curriculum. Self assessments and reflections are always in service to the process of performance tasks, which should have their own established criteria, but are they not also performance tasks themselves? If so, then how do you grade them, or use them as part of a grade for a project? Similarly, are peer critiques structured around the project goals/criteria directly? I feel like it's possible to end up grading the assessment which assesses learning, and down the rabbit hole you go. I am definitely over thinking this.

Just before covid, I finished my M.Ed degree in visual arts. However due to a sudden illness and then covid shortly after, I never completed my licensure application. I do have the masters degree however. My issue is I can no longer access my university email or account to see if it's even possible in finishing up the licensure part. I do have a number of years teaching as a guest lecturer, despite this. My question is if I need the licensure to apply to art teaching jobs, specifically in China? Or is there a way to get a licensure while already teaching abroad? Or does my M.Ed cover it anyway since licensures are really only state/country specific?
