I’m going crazy. Put the pull-ups back on as a break from potty training but it’s not really a break?

It all started 5 days ago when I thought it was time to start potty training my 2 years old (24 months). We took diapers off. Day 1 and 2 resulted in withholding both poop and pee for hours and mainly because of the urine withholding I decided to put the pull up diapers back on hoping it will ease off the pressure and maybe try again in a few months.
We are 3 days with diapers on and she is still withholding both. She keeps asking to go to the potty whenever she feels she is about to urinate but doesn’t want to urinate. Basically she is only urinating when she has to even in the diaper. Keeping it in only when she has no control over it anymore. Asking to be changed immediately after.

I have no idea how we came to this. I’m trying to normalize pee as much as possible. Saying pee came out. Never got angry at an accident. Always changed her after and cleaned calmly.

I’m at my wits end. I consulted a friend of mine who is a pediatrician and she didn’t really have anything to say about this.

Thinking both poop and pee withholding are probably connected I’m maintaining plenty of fluid intake and fiber rich foods. Even gave a dose of miralax. She is withholding to that poop like her life depends on it.

Not sure about keeping the pull ups on or what. She keeps asking for the toilet/potty.

Note- this is basically a repost from a post I mad at r/toddlers

Sleep training 4 month old twins?

We never sleep trained our first (now 2 years) and we’ve managed well. She still needs us to sleep but basically just us next to her on our bed and then we transfer her to her toddler bed. At day care she sleeps well on her own.

We have 4 month twins (19 weeks) and I think they are in the midst of a regression. One sleeps in a rock-able bassinet (girl) and the other in a baby crib (boy).

I think we are in the midst of the sleep regression. I’m going crazy with fighting for every nap so they don’t get overtired. They already go way past their wake window (each ww is at least 2 hours). They need rocking to sleep. My boy is refusing the crib and wakes up every 30 minutes-hour. Will sleep only when rocked. Girl only sleeps when bassinet is rocked. I don’t want these to become their sleep associations I put them to bed alone 99% of the time my husband works out of town.

Right now they usually go to bed at 7-8 pm and wake up at 6-7 am. Last few nights I barely slept as they woke up nearly every hour. I put one back sleep and the other wakes up. It’s maddening not to mention when the toddler joins in.

I’m interested in sleep training. Wondering if now is a good time to start. Any tips for twins? Best approaches?

When did they start to actually sleep well during the night for you?(without sleep training)

By sleeping well i mean 3-5 hour stretches where they don’t gave wake windows in the middle of the night.
Our twins are 4 months now , we transitioned to EFF after combo feeding for 3 months, and they still don’t sleep that well and worst of all they sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and STAY AWAKE after being fed etc. which to me is harder than if they woke up every 2 hours and went straight back to sleep. Or they fall asleep I put them in their crib but they wake up after 5 minutes even though they were completely asleep when put down.

They usually wake up by 6-7 am and I watch for tired cues+ age appropriate wake window times for their naps. Total nap time is 4.5 hours usually one big nap and 2-3 shorter ones. I try to keep both of them on the same schedule as much as possibleband they sleep at the same time for most of their naps.

Lately bedtime is around 7-8 pm which is lovely and they started having longer streches for that first part of the night (also not every day…) however nearly every night one of them stays awake for an hour+ after waking up at like 12 am or 2 am or worst of all 4 am. It wasn’t like that with my first. She was EBF and she would have the occasional ww in the middle of the night but not at this frequency!!

A gift for a 2 years old?

Hello,
My toddlers birthday is in 2 weeks
I’m thinking about getting her a Pikler triangle with a wooden slide or a regular indoor slide.

Was wondering if this is something she will get excited for temporarily and forget about after a few months or will it be something she will play for years to come?

Any suggestions for something that will serve for more than a week’s play?
She already has a play kitchen she loves to play in (as I know this is a pretty popular suggestion)

The story of how I weaned my toddler (2 in 2 weeks) off pacifier

Well, a few month ago (about 8 months when my toddler was 15 months old) I posted about a failed attempt to wean off pacifier and opted to wait a bit until she understands more.
Fast forward to now nearly 2 years old she is still attached to it more than ever. Any attempt at gradual weaning failing.

So 2 days ago on Wednesday after she got home from daycare I put on youtube a sesame street episode where they say goodbye to the pacifier. After watching bits of it she was like I wanna throw it in the garbage. I told her give me I will throw it for you and I made her believe I threw but I hid it in my pocket in case I folded lol.

Anyway, the minute she thought it was in the garbage she wanted it back and started crying. I told her we are not taking anything out from the garbage. This resulted in an hour tantrum. Afterwards we played with her twin siblings and went about our day until sleep time.

Needless to say she started crying wanting it back but I stood my ground. I put the twins to sleep (all while she was crying and comforting her in-between). I offered her hugs and plushies. None helped and she basically fell asleep from tiredness after an hour of crying.

Next day at daycare her teacher said she didn’t ask for it at all. Before bedtime she was playing in the yard with her cousins and they played till late (9 pm) she was with her father ( we live in the same comlex with her uncles and paternal grandparents and they were all enjoying the summer evening and the children were playing). She didn’t want to come home so she already came home crying. I gave her a quick shower and told her it’s time to sleep she cried for 10 minutes and slept cause she was exhausted.

Today Friday there is no daycare. I got her to nap while crying!! But it was mainly cause she wanted her father but she was tired so it only took 10 minutes. Bedtime came and she was in a good mood this time around. Whenever she asked for the paci I told her I don’t have it we threw it in the garbage and she would accept it.

She had 30 minutes of monolog while trying to sleep. She asked for the white noise machine, hugged it and fell asleep. No crying tonight!

Our naps and feeding setup and flat head connection?

We don’t have twin z where I live but I got this similar pillow.
Twins are 15 weeks. All of their naps have been on this pillow for the past 3 months. At night one sleeps in this bassinet and one in the crib in our room. (In their sleepsacks without the pillow)
It’s convenient when I feed them on it and they fall asleep, also they nap longer on it and they are under my supervision as this is a wheeled bassinet and I take it with me around the house.
I have been increasing tummy time significantly since week 10 and definitely hit the 30 mintues of tummy time overall during the day.
I suspect a beginning of a flat spot on both of their heads-pics included.

I try to hold them as much as possible but I also have a toddler and I’m alone with them most of the time. Partner works out of town.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Could this pillow increase flat head risk? Anyone else who has a similar setup?

One twin tired and hungry, cries when offered milk and only drinks after dozing off a bit?

I have 3 months old b/g twins. The girl acts as the title says.
She gets clearly tired I try to get her to sleep. She starts crying hysterically so I offer milk she drinks like two sips then starts crying again I hold and calm her/calm her with pacifier and it goes into a cycle until she finally starts dozing off to sleep then like 2 minutes in she starts seeking a bottle and actually drinks and sleeps.
This has been happening for a while now. Not for every nap/feeding but does happen multiple times a day. It’s especially hard at night feeds when she wakes up to eat but starts crying etc

We bottle feed. Sometimes I feed her when held up sometimes on a twinZ like pillow. (No difference when I change feeding position)

Anyone experienced something like this? And ideas on the cause?

I ebf my first and now bottle feeding my twins and here’s my experience so far

I nursed my first for 13 months and for my twins (now 10 weeks)I pretty much gave up on day 1 because just trying to get them both to latch was a nightmare and the thought of them on my breast all day with a toddler around was just unfeasible for me.

So I bottle feed pumped milk+ formula.
Started with pumping 8 times a day but after about 6 weeks I went down to 5-6 ppd cause I just couldn’t cope with more and I started giving more and more formula. Going in I decided I won’t get myself stressed over how much I make. Whatever breastmilk they get is good.

Anyway the point of this post is to say that bottle/formula feeding isn’t really that easier/an easy way out. Both ways of feeding have their challenges.

Ways nursing is easier:
- You can just get your breast out and feed baby whenever wherever especially when baby is a bit older and breastfeeding is established
- It’s free
- easier logistically

Challenges;
- You have to be with the baby all the time except the occasional bottle your partner/someone else can give.
-In the beginning it can be painful and getting baby to latch also has its challenges.
-You don’t know how much baby is actually getting -Stress about supply

So bottle feeding is easier in that you know how much baby is getting, anyone can give baby a bottle and give mom a break, no need to stress over if you have enough.
BUT it’s still hard in many ways:
-THE DISHES
- having to pack formula and bottles when going out
-expensive
- mom guilt
- idk if it’s just me but it’s also kind of feeding by demand? Like they don’t really eat 3-4 oz every 3-4 hours sometimes they drink like 2 oz and then want another 2 oz after 1:30 hours. And sometimes they go for longer stretches. They still cluster feed. Maybe cause they’re still newborns and it might change later on but I thought it would be easier in this regard but it’s not lol

Each twin individually actually easier than my singleton

10 weeks with b/g twins. I also have a 22 months old toddler.

First 8 weeks were exhausting to say the least. Now 10 weeks in it’s still very hard but they are more chill over all during the day (started chilling when awake and not just eating/pooping/screaming) and one twin started sleeping for longer stretches at night. Witching hour started subsiding (evenings are still a roller coaster).

Anyway maybe I don’t remember very well but I feel like with my first it was harder than with each twin alone as in naps during the day and the need to be held. So far the twins sleep well in bassinet/crib, they sometimes even prefer to be put down and cry when I hold them up.
When put drowsy into crib they actually fall asleep?! And they have good naps of 2 hours each (so far).
This was unthinkable with my first. She contact napped a lot, her naps were very short in the bassinet and she would only fall asleep when held.
I honestly thought all babies were like that but apparently it could be easier lol. Except it’s twins so it’s not actually easier.

Not sure if it’s because I’m not nursing this time around or because it’s twins so I can’t really cater to them like I did with my first or it’s just how they are but I thought it was interesting to see the difference.

6 weeks with twins-barely able to do tummy time

So twins are 6 weeks and we’ve barely been able to do proper floor tummy time. Every ww is consumed by feeding/burping/changing diaper/figuring out why they’re grumpy. It seems when one is content and awake the other is fussy/hungry or my toddler needs me etc
I do hold them in the tiger in the tree position a lot and try to do chest tummy time but know it’s not enough
What has your experience been with this? When is it supposed to be easier to put them on the floor. My toddler has done floor tummy time since 2 weeks old 🥲

So I’m 4 weeks pp with twins and have been pretty much at house arrest. I would like to go out with them alone when my husband is at work and toddler is at daycare. I will of course go out after both are fed etc but I keep thinking-
What if both of them get hungry at the same time when I’m out? How do I manage feeding them together?
How do you guys do it?
